City Of Santa Clarita “Community Health Fair” 

When:  Saturday, March 15 from 9am-noon
Where:  Canyon Country Community Center, 18792 Flying Tiger Drive, Canyon Country
Details:  In partnership with Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, the City of Santa Clarita is hosting a “Community Health Fair.”  Receive free screenings: cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, and body fat analysis (BMI). Performing Arts Center “Fahrenheit 451”

When:  Friday, March 14 at 8pm
Where:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Boulevard, Lancaster
Details:  The Lancaster Performing Arts Center has the play based on Ray Bradbury’s classic novel “Fahrenheit 451.”  “Ray Bradbury’s visionary parable of a society gone awry is set in a strange future world where books have been outlawed and the attainment of knowledge discouraged.”  More information and tickets are available online.

SCV Boys & Girls Club “Jog-A-Thon”

When:  Saturday, March 15  at 10am
Where:  Hart High School’s  running track, 24825 North Newhall Avenue, Newhall
Details:  Make a pledge today to support the SCV Boys & Girls Club after-school programming with a “Jog-A-Thon.”  Club members, parents and the community will jog the track for one hour.  Make a flat donation; sponsor a member per lap, or sign up to run.  Read more in an article on the KHTS website: Newhall Boys & Girls Club To Hold Fundraiser For Art Program.  Donations can be sent directly to the club at 24909 Newhall Avenue, Newhall, 91321.

Lancaster Performing Arts Center  “Molly Ringwald And Her Quartet”

When:  Saturday, March 15 at 8pm
Where:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Boulevard, Lancaster
Details:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center has “Molly Ringwald and Her Quartet.”  Molly Ringwald may be best known for her acting in movies: Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink, but she also sings.  Her concert will include music from her new album “Except Sometimes,” a collection of Great American Songbook and Broadway tunes.  More information and tickets are available by calling 661-723-5950 or online.    

Michael Hoefflin Foundation “Walk/Run For Kids With Cancer”

When:  Saturday, March 15, registration is at 8am, hours allotted for event 8am-11am
Where:  College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus, Cougar Stadium, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details:  The Michael Hoefflin Foundation is holding their fourth annual “Walk/Run For Kids With Cancer.”  The event is a celebration of the lives of children and their families who have been affected by children’s cancer.  Teams and individuals participate to raise awareness and funds in support of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for children’s cancer.  The day offers a continental breakfast for participants and a lot of fun.  Walker registration is $25.  Runner registration is $35.  No dogs are allowed at this run/walk.  More information is available by calling 661-250-4100 or online

Golden Oak Adult School “Big Jazz Concert”

When:  Friday, March 14 at 7:30pm
Where:  West Ranch High School Theater, 26255 W. Valencia Boulevard, Stevenson Ranch

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’ “All Schools Dance”

When:  Friday, March 14 from 7-11pm
Where:  Six Flags Magic Mountain,  26101 Magic Mountain Parkway – back gate
Details:  This year marks the 30th annual “Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s All Schools Dance.”   The event is for 8th through 12th grade students from Santa Clarita Valley schools.  The dance features DJ music and a light show by Mike Diaz Entertainment and raffle prizes.  The Green Lantern and Batman rides will be open for unlimited rides.  Read more in an article on the KHTS website:  Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s All Schools Dance To Be Held March 14 Tickets are $10 each and will be sold at the back gate.  Student identification must be shown. 

St. Clare Lenten Fish Fry

When:  Fridays from 4:30-8pm from March 7 through April 11
Where:  Saint Clare of Assisi, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country
Details:  Lent is here and St. Clare’s is again holding their Lenten Fish Fry.  The dinners include beer battered Alaska cod, French fries or rice pilaf, coleslaw, rolls, and coffee, tea or milk.  Desserts are available for purchase at the Bake Sale table.  Other beverages are available for purchase.  A two-piece dinner is $9 and three-piece for $10.  Meals are dine-in or take-out.  Proceeds benefit the needy in Santa Clarita. 

Zonta Club SCV  LifeForward Workshop “Your Health & Well Being”

When:  Saturday, March 15 from 10am-12:30pm
Where:  Savia Community Center, 23780 Newhall Avenue, Newhall

Temple Beth Ami Purim Celebrations

Details:  Temple Beth Ami is holding three events to celebrate Purim.  1.) On Friday, March 14 at 8pm take part in the first of “Special Musical Shabbat Themes” with “Songs of Purim.”  Hear the songs that you don’t usually hear including a song which recount the entire Megillah.  Join Canton Ellis as he sings and teaches with these fun melodies.  On Saturday, March 15 at 7pm, Temple Beth Ami will be holding the Story of Esther as part of the celebration of  Purim.  There will be a reading of The Megillah, the story of the Book of Esther.  Celebrants come to this service in costume.  Rabbi Mark Blazer invites your entire family to enjoy the music and fun with Wendy Hersh and Teri Lieberstein.  On Sunday, March 16 from 10am-2pm, Temple Beth Ami will be hosting their traditional Purim Carnival.  The carnival will have games, food and entertainment featuring Mad Dog.  More information is available by calling 661-255-6410 or online.  

Canyon Country Athletic Association Fundraiser

When:  Saturday, March 15 from 9am-1pm
Where:  Boys & Girls Club at Sierra Vista Junior High, 19301 Pleasantdale, at White’s Canyon
Details:  Clean out your garage and closets to donate to a Goodwill fundraiser hosted by Outlaws football and cheer of the Canyon Country Athletic Association.  Acceptable donation items: artwork & frames, audio/visual equipment, blankets & bedspreads, books, CDs, DVDs, clothing & shoes, cookware & dishware, small electronics (radios, stereos, small working appliances), hand & power tools, jewelry, and sporting goods & sleeping bags.  Unfortunately, there is an unacceptable list: automotive parts & equipment, bed frames, bicycles & wheeled toys, blinds & curtain rods, exercise equipment, construction materials, home furniture & office furniture, and infant cribs, playpens, car seats and strollers.  Proceeds benefits the scholarships and expenses for the football and cheer programs.  Learn more about the Outlaws  football and cheer of Canyon Country Athletic Association online.

College Of The Canyons Music “Jazz It!”

Details:  The College of the Canyons jazz bands will be holding their concert “Jazz It!”  Under the direction of KC Manji, the “evening featuring popular jazz tunes arranged for everything from jazz combos to 19-piece swing band.” Proceeds from the concert will help provide transportation for the 17-member Studio Jazz Ensemble to travel and compete in the 52nd Annual Reno Jazz Festival in April.  Tickets are $10 and $5.  More information and tickets are available by calling 661-362-5304 or online

KHTS Home & Garden Show

KHTS Emergency Expo

When:  Saturday, March 29 from 9am-5pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway
Details:  As part of the KHTS Home & Garden Show, the Emergency Expo will be showcased on the first day.  The Emergency Expo will have displays, presentations and drills from local emergency response teams.  The exhibitors will feature products and services for emergency preparedness, response and recovery.  Learn more online.   

KHTS Arts & Crafts Show

When:  Sunday, March 30 from 10am-4pm

Brittany Foundation “Comedy For Canines” 

When:  Friday, March 28 at 8pm for auction/raffle and 9pm for show
Where:  JR’s Comedy Club, inside Marie Callender’s, 27630 The Old Road at Magic Mountain Parkway

Details:  The Congressional Art Competition is now accepting artwork submissions.  The competition is open to all high school students within the California 25th District represented by Congressman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon.  Read more about the competition, criteria, submission locations and past winners in an article on the KHTS website: Congressional Art Competition Accepting Submissions Until April 21.
