Maternity and Baby ShowMaternity & Baby Show 2015

The 2015 Maternity & Baby Show will have exhibits from more than 50 vendors that will focus on the needs of expectant mothers and newborn babies.  In addition to exhibitors there will be informational exhibits with opportunities, products and services related to maternity and babies, including free maternity health screenings, speakers, maternity and infant wear, consignment boutique, and supervised kids zone.  Admission is free and the event is open to the public.  Take part in the dozens of drawings for prizes worth $50 to $300 including 300 Super Lotto Plus Quick Pick Plays.

Circle Of Hope “Vine 2 Wine”Circle Of Hope's Vine 2 Wine Attracts More Than 500 To 13th Annual Event

Circle of Hope is hosting their premier fundraising event “Vine 2 Wine Classic & Barley To Brew.”  The event offers up fine wines, craft beers, gourmet food, live music, and silent auction.  Advance ticket purchases are $75 per ticket, rising to $95 at the door.  This event is for those 21 years of age and older.

Santa Clarita Ballet “Fall Classes”Santa Clarita Ballet

Santa Clarita Ballet Academy offers a comprehensive dance program with an emphasis on classical ballet for students of all levels of ability and interest, ranging in ages from three to adult.  Santa Clarita Ballet is the only certified Royal Academy of Dance school in our valley.  Fall classes begin August 17 and include: Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet for ages 3-5; Classical Ballet for beginners through advanced; Tap, Jazz & Modern; Yoga and Pilates Body Conditioning Classes; and Pilates Reformer.  The ballet company performs The Nutcracker in December and full length ballet productions in June and September.

Museum of the Bible - PassagesMuseum Of The Bible-Passages

Passages is an interactive exhibit that chronicles the history of the Bible.  Approximately 400 artifacts are used to tell the stories.  Some of the artifacts are the Dead Sea Scrolls, a Bible that traveled to the moon on Apollo 14, and a letter handwritten by Martin Luther on the night before he was charged with heresy.  Kids can take part in the parting of the Red Sea with Moses, dress as an animal on Noah’s Ark, and feed the lions so they don’t eat Daniel!

Academy Swim Club “Box Of Sox”academy-swim-InHouse

Academy Swim Club is a donation drop-off point for the “Box of Sox” drive to help homeless families with new pairs of socks.  Academy Swim knows it is a small way to help families take a step forward to a new beginning, but, it is a very important step.  Please donate pairs of socks for adults and children in a variety of sizes and drop them off at Academy Swim.  This could be an important learning lesson for your children while you shop for back-to-school items for your own family.

Summer Beach Bus Offers Discount Trips To Santa Monica BeachCity Of Santa Clarita
“Summer Beach Bus”

The City of Santa Clarita is taking us to Santa Monica, the easy way, on comfortable and air-conditioned buses.  Summer Beach Bus offers two routes each weekend, with one route serving the east side of the City and the other route, servicing the west and south sides.  Travelers can bring beach chairs, coolers, and surfboards.  Fares are $3 for adults and kids and $1.50 seniors and people with disabilities.  Buses arrive in Santa Monica between 10:00am-10:15am and depart back to Santa Clarita at 4:30pm.  Pick Up Locations: Canyon Country Park, Soledad Canyon Road & Solamint, Soledad Canyon Road & Shangri-La Drive, Railroad Avenue & 15th Street, Newhall Avenue & Valle Del Oro, Newhall Avenue & Sierra Highway, the Via Princessa Metrolink Station, The Newhall Metrolink Station, and the McBean Regional Transit Center.

Todo Para Cristo (All For Christ) Ministery is an international non-profit organization with a heart for missions.  Todo Para Cristo serves in various prison ministries, orphanages, and various mission posts in Mexico and Central America.  Orphanages and prisons are visited on a weekly basis, providing food, clothing, and Christian literature for spiritual development.  Take part in services and learn about their mission to provide love, hope and education to the disadvantaged.

“Silents Under the Stars” will feature the 1918 William S. The Exotic Feline Breeding CompoundFeline Conservation Center “Twilight Tour”

he Feline Conservation Center, also known as The Cat House, is hosting its “Twilight Tour.”  The “Twilight Tour” is an important part of the Center’s public awareness and educational programs to promote endangered species preservation and conservation.  The “Twilight Tour” is open when the cats are more active than during the day.  Visitors can wander around parts of the compound that are not open to visitors during the day.  Picture taking is allowed.  Barbeque and baked items will be available for purchase.  Take part in the raffle.  The Tour is for adults 18 years and over.  Admission is $20 per person.  Tickets can be pre-paid over the phone between 10:00am-4:00pm (except Wednesday).  Tickets at the door are on a cash basis only.

The Mothers Fighting For Others (MFFO) 3rd Annual West Coast Calendar Event “That’s Amore.”  The evening features Italian cuisine by private chef Carolyne Snow and will be hosted by Channel Five news anchor Chris Schauble.  All proceeds benefit the girls at Saint Monica Children’s Home in Nairobi, Kenya.  MFFO’s goal is to provide 100% of Saint Monica’s needs for a year!  Tickets are $30 for a single and $50 for a couple.  Tickets are available online.

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood.
