Valencia Marketplace Holiday Celebration 

Valencia Marketplace is celebrating the holidays.  KHTS will be helping Valencia Marketplace Kids Club celebrate with dancing to rockin’ music, climbing on the KHTS Antique 1948 Fire Truck, and giveaways.  Kids ages 12 and under can make free Christmas crafts.  Many of the local stores of Valencia Marketplace will have special holiday sales.  Choirs from several elementary schools will also entertain.  Give the kids a treat and do a little shopping before stopping for lunch.
When:  Saturday, December 6 from 12 noon-3pm

PayForward Ice Rink

PayForward is sponsoring the PayForward Ice Rink for winter ice skating fun for the entire family.  There will be skate rentals and events for all skaters to enjoy.  Some of the events:  Hot Cocoa with Santa, Frozen On Ice, Holiday Character Shows, and Polar Bear Skate.  On Sunday, decorate Cookies & Cupcakes with Santa from 2pm-4pm.  Tickets, which includes skate rental: $10 for children ages 3-8, $15 for adults, children under age 3 are free.
When:  now through January 11, 2015 – hours Monday-Thursday 11am-9pm; Friday & Saturday 10am-11pm; Sunday 10am-8pm

Canyon Theatre Guild “Miracle On 34th Street”Miracle On 34th Street

The holiday season has arrived at Canyon Theatre Guild with “Miracle on 34th Street.”  You’ve probably seen the movie but the stage production is even more heartwarming and fun for families.  Kris Kringle takes a job as Santa for Marcy’s and ends up in court needing to convince the jury that he isn’t incompetent but, the true Santa.  Little Susan is convinced he is, are you?   Tickets are $17 for juniors/seniors and $19 for adults.  Call 661-799-2702.

YMCA “Snow Fest”

It’s snowing at the Y! The Santa Clarita YMCA will be turned into a frozen winter wonderland for everyone to enjoy. There will be tons of snow, sledding, crafts, games, hot chocolate and more! This is a free event open to the entire community.

COC Interior Design Students Participate In Holiday Home TourHMNMH “Holiday Home Tour”

The 34th Annual Holiday Home Tour will live up to its theme “Holiday Memories.”  Three local homes will thrill visitors with their festive holiday décor.  Some of the highlights will be a Santa’s workshop, snowball collection, A Nightmare Before Christmas themed bedroom, and a nutcracker themed room.   Read more in an article on the KHTS website: Santa Clarita Community Shares Holiday Spirit In Henry Mayo Home Tour.   The tour is open to adults and children over 12 and flat shoes are required.  Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 on the day of the event.  See website for locations of advance ticket sales.  The Preview Gala will be held Friday, December 5 from 7:30pm-10:30pm at Valencia Country Club.  Tickets are $125 per person with advanced purchase only.  Tickets are available online through November 28. The Holiday Boutique will be held at Pico Canyon Elementary, 25255 Pico Canyon, Stevenson Ranch from 9am-4pm.  Admission to the Boutique is free.

COC Symphony “Baroque Classics”

The College of the Canyons Symphony of the Canyons presents “Baroque Classics.”  Symphony of the Canyons and the Santa Clarita Youth Orchestra Foundation’s Orchestra and Prelude Strings will perform.  “Come hear and support Santa Clarita’s finest young musicians in a concert for the entire family.”  Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.

Placerita Nature Center “Holiday Craft Fair”

Create and decorate your own holiday wreaths, centerpieces, candles and ornaments the Placerita Nature Center way, using fresh-cut greenery, pinecones and other natural treasures.  This is a fundraiser with modest charges.  Most crafts are $2 and wreaths start at $12.  Cash and checks only.  More details available on the website’s November-December newsletter – see last page of newsletter.

COC Jazz Ensemble “Holiday Concert”

Join the COC Jazz Ensemble and Lab Band as they ring in the holidays with their “Holiday Concert.”  Under the direction of KC Manji, with guest vocalist Katherine Lench-Meyering, the band will perform holiday classics and family favorite: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, O Holy Night, and others.  Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.

Veterans Plaza Christmas Tree Lighting

Celebrate our servicemen, past and present, with this delightful Christmas Tree Lighting at Veterans Plaza.  There will be caroling, hot cocoa, holiday treats and a placing of a wreath for our fallen servicemen by the SCV Young Marines.  The Christmas tree is decorated with photos of our military members surrounded by red, white and blue lights. Submit a photo of your serviceman by November 30 by mail: Prayer Angels For The Military, 21609 Oak Orchard Rd, Newhall 91321 or by email: prayerangelsforthemilitary@yahoo.com.  Please include name, branch, rank and service or theater (if known).

Rancho Camulos Christmas

Stroll the lighted gardens, view handmade and unique decorations, visit the traditionally adorned historic buildings, join the festivities, and enjoy holiday themed music and entertainment. Each day has its own schedule with events such as:  “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” a swing-time radio musical about family and hope; “The Three Queens,” a lighthearted version Nativity from the perspective of the Wise Men’s wives; and the Fiesta of Lights display.  The Christmas season at the Rancho takes us “back in time where the history, myth, and romance of old California still linger.”  Reservations are not required but are appreciated. The suggested donation is $5 and children under 12 are free.

Santa Clarita Ballet “The Nutcracker” – get your tickets now!Santa Clarita Nutcracker Ballet
You know the holidays are here when it’s time to get your tickets for the Santa Clarita Ballet’s performances of “The Nutcracker.” The Nutcracker with Marie meeting the Mouse King, Snowflakes, and journeying with the Nutcracker Prince through the Pine Forest into The Land of Sweets with its Sugar Plum Fairy; Chinese, Russian, and Spanish dancers, has come to be associated with the Christmas season.  Whether it is your first time to see The Nutcracker or an annual tradition, you are sure to enjoy the Santa Clarita Ballet performances.  Tickets are now on sale.   Although performances are at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, tickets are only available through Santa Clarita Ballet.  Tickets are $32 for Orchestra/Box seats; $30 for Balcony, and $28 for Seniors (65 and up) and Children under age 10.  Call for tickets at 661-251-0366.  Tickets are also available at the SC Ballet Box Office: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3-6pm; Wednesday from 3:30-6pm; and Saturday from 9:30am-1:30pm.  Santa Clarita Ballet address is:  26798 Oak Avenue, Santa Clarita.

Circle of Hope “Christmas In New York”
Enjoy an evening of cocktails, dinner and holiday entertainment with “Christmas in New York,” to benefit Circle of Hope.  Dine under the stars on New York Street, where multiple New York shows have been filmed, including Seinfeld and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.  The street will be decorated as a winter wonderland with snow in the forecast.  The evening includes carolers, music, a show, sleigh rides and a silent auction.  Tickets are available online:  Family Package (2 adults, 2 children) are $150; adult tickets $75; and children 16 and under are $10.

Children’s Bureau Foster Care And Foster Adoption
Caring, compassionate, comforting, child-focused, concerned and committed: is this how you “C” yourself?  The Children’s Bureau invites willing adults to become a resource family to children in foster care while reunifying with birth families or to provide legal permanency by adoption if children can’t go home.  Come to this meeting held locally and learn how to help these children find the love, stability and support only a family can provide.

Real Life Church “Christmas At Real Life Church”
Real Life Church is holding “Christmas at Real Life Church” complete with awe-inspiring music, children’s choir, classic Christmas characters, and a special performance from American Idol contestant Colton Dixon.  During the 7pm shows there will be a Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Admission is free but you must reserve seating online.

Veterans Of Comedy Live
Newhall American Legion Post 507 is hosting “Veterans of Comedy Live.”  The evening will feature co-founders Will C and Allison Gill, along with Shawn Halpin and Erik Knowles.  They are bringing laughter to the Legion to support veterans.  Advance tickets are $15 or $20 at the door.

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools.
