What: Passages is an interactive exhibit that chronicles the history of the Bible. More than 400 artifacts are used to tell the stories. Artifacts include the Dead Sea Scrolls, a Bible that traveled to the moon on Apollo 14, and a letter handwritten by Martin Luther on the night before he was charged with heresy. Kids can take part in the parting of the Red Sea with Moses, dress as an animal on Noah’s Ark, and feed the lions so they don’t eat Daniel.

What: “A Christmas Carol: The Musical” opens at the Canyon Theatre Guild on Friday at 8 p.m. with a free wine and champagne reception beginning at 7 p.m. Reserved/purchased seats are required to attend the reception, and attendees must be 21 or older to drink. Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. The reception will take place on opening night only, with regular performances continuing through Monday, December 21. Ticket prices are $19 for adults and $17 for seniors (62+) and juniors (-18). The Enchantress has forgotten her holiday dreams, so in order to bring the joy of the holidays back to her, the children seek out the “Magical Embers” to restore her memory. Presented in a cabaret-style format featuring holiday music with colorful dances and impressive solos, this year’s show is planned to be a blast for performers and audience members alike—all while supporting the beauty of live theatre for the younger generation. Along with the show, Holipalooza includes a silent auction with a variety of wonderful pieces to bid on and a light dinner that begins before the performance.
