What: College of the Canyons is hosting an artist reception for Larry Hurst, Los Angeles-based artist and former COC Gallery Director, whose work is currently on display in the art gallery. The one-person exhibition brings together works from three areas of Hurst’s aesthetic investigations: his precise and elegant geometric abstract paintings; his nuanced and poetic collage; and his intensively hand-crafted, often humorous sculptures (which Hurst attributes to his alter-ego, Guy Leadbetter).

Helen Hunt Jackson Returns to Rancho Camulos

What: Experience this annual historical reenactment at Rancho Camulos National Historic Landmark. One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the appearance of actress Kayla Contreras, who currently stars as Ramona in the Hemet Ramona Outdoor Pageant.

What: Community kids are invited to participate in Santa Clarita’s 14th annual “Hearts for Heroes” event, hosted by Prayer Angels for the Military. Come join the fun. It’s free for all ages. Activities include making Valentine’s Day cards of appreciation for our troops, veterans, firefighters, paramedics and sheriff’s deputies. Special care packages will be put together for local troops deployed overseas and there will be Valentine’s Day treats. If you can, bring a donation for care packages.
