The one-person exhibition brings together works from three areas of Hurst’s aesthetic investigations: his precise and elegant geometric abstract paintings; his nuanced and poetic collage; and his intensively hand-crafted, often humorous sculptures (which Hurst attributes to his alter-ego, Guy Leadbetter).

What: Community kids are invited to participate in Santa Clarita’s 14th annual “Hearts for Heroes” event, hosted by Prayer Angels for the Military. Come join the fun. It’s free for all ages. Activities include making Valentine’s Day cards of appreciation for our troops, veterans, firefighters, paramedics and sheriff’s deputies. Special care packages will be put together for local troops deployed overseas and there will be Valentine’s Day treats. If you can, bring a donation for care packages.

Desserts can be found at the Bake Sale table.  Milk, coffee and tea are included with dinner and sodas, beer, wine and margaritas are available for purchase.  A two-piece dinner and/or the taco plate is $9 and three-piece dinner is $10.  Meals are dine-in or take-out.  Proceeds benefit local charities and families in need.

What: The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold the fourth annual “Santa Colorita Run,” a festival of community, color, fitness, fun and families. These types of runs take place all over the world, and have become a celebration of health, happiness, individuality, and a spirit of giving back to one’s community. This event is for runners and participants of all age. There’s only one rule: wear something white, and maybe some sunglasses, ’cause you’re gonna get “rainbowed!”
