What: KHTS presents Diamond Rio and special guest Savannah Burrows, 2016 KHTS Country Showdown Winner, benefiting the SCV Disaster Coalition. Grammy-winning Diamond Rio is known for playing every note on every album. The band has had zero member changes over the course of its nearly 30-year history. During that time, they have sold more than 10 million albums, won multiple awards, released two greatest-hits albums, and earned five multi-week No. 1 singles, 22 Top-10 singles, three certified platinum albums and five gold albums.

What: The Band of the Golden West is the Air Force’s only active-duty musical unit west of the Rocky Mountains. Stationed at Travis Air Force Base in the San Francisco Bay area, the band is composed of some 60 talented musicians under the command of Capt. Rafael F. Toro-Quiñones. In addition to performing for civilian audiences throughout the western states, the band supports 13 air bases, eight reserve wings and six recruiting squadrons in more than 250 annual performances.

COC Baking Workshop: Summer Pies

What: Come learn how to make a couple varieties of pies for your 4th of July celebrations and summer BBQ’s! They drive pedal cars in a child-size town, sing, make arts and crafts and play games that reinforce the safety lessons.

Fort Tejon State Historic Park 1856 Fourth of July Celebration

What: The 1856 Fourth of July Celebration will offer the visitor a unique opportunity to take a step back in time and experience an 1856 style Fourth of July celebration at this Army outpost of the 1850’s. Watch park volunteers in period attire of the U.S. Army and civilians of the era. Volunteers will fire a 31-Cannon salute from the old Army post parade ground in honor of the National Holiday. Cannon will fire a salute for all 31 states in the union in 1856.

What: The class will focus on hiking in and around the SCV. A naturalist from Placerita Canyon will discuss snake prevalence, identification and safety measures to take while in snake country. Live snakes will be on hand for identification purposes. An emergency room nurse from Henry Mayo will also discuss venomous snake bite treatment. This is a very fun and informative evening. Register for this FREE class early as it fills up quickly.
