What: The most magical 24-hour Relay For Life event is celebrating 20 years of raising funds and awareness to fight cancer for the American Cancer Society. This year’s theme is Disney-inspired so bring the kids for a fun time and check out the amazing decorated campsites teams will have. An opening ceremony will honor cancer survivors, and throughout the day there will be food, live entertainment and activities for all ages. As the sun sets, bags begin lining the field as attendees prepare for a moving luminaria ceremony. The event continues all night with nighttime activities and ends Sunday morning with a free pancake breakfast and closing ceremony.

What: Youth will be represented by the winner of the orchestra’s 4th annual Student Concerto Competition. The competition is open to all junior and senior high school students in the Santa Clarita Valley. The romance will be represented by music from the Romantic period (1830–1900) of classical music. The orchestra will feature Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 1, “Spring,” and Max Reger’s Concerto for Orchestra in the Old Style. While written after 1900, Reger’s Concerto retains the broad, melodic passages as the works of the Romantic period.
