14th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival

Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, Inc.’s 14th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival

When: Saturday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What: This FREE event includes exhibitors, performances, food, a free kids zone area including a rock wall, face painting, balloon artists and more! The event features a waterway where 5,000 rubber ducks will race towards great cash prizes! Duck adoptions start at $5 per duck. Proceeds go toward patient care at Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, which offers primary health care for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.

What: Beloved singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash brings her own poetic survey of places and people of the South in the beautiful and varied songs from her acclaimed 2014 album “The River & The Thread,” which garnered three Grammy awards and was written with her collaborator, musical director, guitarist and husband, John Leventhal. A special “PAC Perk – Date Night Done Right” pre-event will begin at 6 p.m. and feature cocktails, dinner, a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity. Tickets are $75, sold separately. Limited seating.

Gilchrist Farm Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch Opening

When: Opens Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What: The Gilchrist Farm Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31! On weekdays, residents are invited to the pumpkin patch to enjoy the straw bale maze, petting zoo and farm store. Then on weekends, a fun-filled lineup of activities and vendors are planned, including horse-drawn wagon rides, pony rides, face painting, pumpkin decorating, fall farm crafts, live entertainment, a fundraiser bake sale, caramel apples, kettle corn, festival food, petting zoo and free goat milking demonstrations Saturdays and Sundays at 9 a.m. Admission and parking are free, and a photographer will be onsite for mini sessions in the pumpkin patch.

Antonovich, the Department of Homeland Security and many others who will discuss cultural implications, mental health, sex, cyber and labor issues of human trafficking. Faith Bowl 2016: Trinity Knights vs. the SCCS Cardinals

What: The Trinity Knights Varsity Football (3-1), led by Head Coach Les Robinson, will play host to the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals (0-4) this Saturday as they battle it out to claim the title of 2016 Faith Bowl Champion. The inaugural yearly event brought out more than 1,500 fans last year with the expectation that even more will attend Saturday.

They will present the current state of bullying in SCV schools, what the different types of bullying are, how teens and their parents can spot and prevent bullying and what resources are available in the community.

What: The Local Group Astronomy Club is hosting its summertime star party. The event is free and the public of all ages are encouraged to attend. Solar telescopes will be set up before sundown, so attendees can bring a picnic and enjoy the park. Once the sun goes down around 8 p.m., Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and possibly Venus should be visible. As it gets dark, attendees can start looking at various stars, galaxies and nebulae.

What: This year, the Friends of Camp Whitsett are hosting their annual Oktoberfest at Pocock Brewery in Santa Clarita. Proceeds from the event benefit the Kernville camp, which is in need of new tents, platforms, cots and mattresses.
