Samuel Dixon – Rubber Ducky Festival

Details: 
Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers know we’ve “Gotta Regatta” at the 10th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival.  The day offers rubber duck races, festival exhibitors, games and prizes, activities, food and entertainment. This free event is full of family fun.  Adopt a duck for a chance at great prizes.  Proceeds benefit patient care at Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers which offers affordable, quality primary health care for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.  Click here for a prize list, more information and to adopt a duck for as little at $5.

Real Live Church – “Halloween Under The Big Top”
When:  Saturday, October 27 from 5-8pm
Where: 
Real Life Church, 23841 Newhall Ranch Road (between Grandview & McBean)
Details: 
Real Life Church brings us “Halloween Under the Big Top” a free event that is sure to be fun for all ages.  The evening includes an aerial and acrobat show, Hollywood bear and tiger, dance performances, games and trick-or-treating.  There will be free cotton candy, popcorn and peanuts.  Other vendors will be there with food items for sale (Lamppost Pizza, Chick-Fil-A, Kona Ice and Corn Heaven).  Part of the proceeds from food sales will benefit Carousel Ranch.  Click here to learn more about Real Life Church. 

Ice Station Valencia – “Spooky Skate”
When:  Saturday, October 27 from 7-9:15pm
Where: 
Ice Station Valencia, 27745 N. Smyth Drive (across from Valencia High)
Details:

Haunted Jailhouse & Carnival
When:  Sunday, October 28 from 11am-4pm

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station (Valencia Boulevard & Magic Mountain Parkway)
Details: 
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is hosting the 23rd Annual Haunted Jailhouse & Carnival.  The Sheriff Station jail is transformed into a haunted house with ghouls and goblins.  There will be a “Wonderland of Fun” for younger kids.  The day includes Sheriff’s Department displays, costume contest, moon bounces, games, entertainment and food.  This Santa Clarita Valley event is fun for the whole family.

Spooky Poker Ride & Hike
When:  Saturday, October 27, riders start at 9am, hikers at 9:30am
Where: 
Barrel Springs Arena, 1300 Barrel Springs Road, Palmdale (1/4 mile east off Sierra Highway, south of Avenue S and North of Pearblossom Highway)
Details: 
Come to a Spooky Poker Ride & Hike & Costume Contest at Barrel Springs Arena.  The Barrel Springs Arena Committee and Equestrian Trails, Inc. are holding the event to raise funds for future arena amenities.  Lunch will be served from 10am-1pm.  Non-hikers/riders are welcome to purchase lunch.  Raffles will be held.  Poker hands are $5; one extra card per hand: $1.  Cards to be draw throughout the event; winners announced at lunch.  Dress for the trail or dress up at lunch for the Costume Contest.  Fees for ETI members are $20 and $25 for hikers and non-ETI members.  For more information call 818-300-7333 or 661-946-1976.

Details:  Cabrillo Music Theatre takes us back to the sweltering hot summer of Philadelphia during the political maneuverings that shaped the American Dream of Independence. “1776” follows our forefathers of the second Continental Congress as they struggle with the questions of independence from the British monarchy.  Click here to learn more, purchase tickets and get directions.

Valencia Flyers Hockey
When: Friday, October 26 at 7:15pm; Saturday, October 27 at 7:15pm; Sunday, October 28 at 1pm

Details:  Are the National Hockey League negotiations getting you down? The Valencia Flyers can take care of you. The Valencia Flyers are a Junior A Hockey Club playing in the Western States Hockey League. They play in the Pacific Division and all their home games are right here in Santa Clarita at Ice Station Valencia. Their games are typically on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Lombardi Ranch

Details:  Get into the spirit of the changing seasons.  Lombardi Ranch has been a staple for over 30 years in Santa Clarita, especially at pumpkin time.  Enjoy the fresh produce, live bands, petting zoos, wagon rides, face paintings and more.  Bake sales happen every weekend by various organizations throughout Santa Clarita.  This weekend Delta Lambda Omicron will be selling caramel apples benefiting breast cancer research.  As every Santa Clarita school age child knows, no little one leaves empty handed.  There’s always balloons, stickers, pencils, candy for each little hand.  Don’t miss the entries for the Scarecrow Alley Contest.  Come to the Ranch and you’ll be sure to be humming the everlasting Lombardi Ranch song by David Reeves Carpenter.  Click here for information on Lombardi Ranch and all that they have to offer.   

Ricky Slocum Memorial Fund Poker Tournament

Everyone is invited to the Ricky Slocum Memorial Fund Poker Tournament.  First place is $1,250.  Prizes are awarded to 2nd through 9th place.  Buy in is $125 a seat.  Click here for tickets and to learn more.

SCV Food Pantry – Run Against Hunger

The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry is holding their 19th Annual 5K Run/Walk Against Hunger.  There is also a 1K Kiddie Fun Run.  The Vision of the SCV Food Pantry is to:  meet the current and future hunger needs of our neighbors in need and to ensure client self-sufficiency through active partnerships with other Santa Clarita organizations.  The Food Pantry shelves have been serving more and more residents of our community and participating in the Run Against Hunger can help.  All entries include refreshments, souvenir t-shirt and post-race prize drawings.  Click here to learn more about the run and the SCV Food Pantry.

Make A Difference Day
When:  Saturday, October 27, kick-off rally at 8am, projects begin at 9am

Details: 
Make a Difference Day is Santa Clarita’s largest day of volunteerism and part of a nationwide day of volunteer service.  Volunteer as an individual or with family, friends or part of a group.  Projects are one-day hands-on projects such as painting, weeding, brush clearance and more.  To volunteer email:  makeadifferenceday@handsonscv.org

VPAC – “Of Mice and Men”
