City of Santa Clarita “Art In Public Places”
Where:  various locations in and around the Santa Clarita Valley
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita has made a commitment to “Art in Public Places”.  One of the newest projects is “The Finish” along the South Fork Trail.  “The Finish” honors the men, women and children who use the trail system to stay active and healthy. The City has developed four self-guided tours.  These tours are perfect for families.

Lancaster Performing Arts Center “Drumline Live”
When:  Saturday, January 12 at 8pm and Sunday, January 13 at 3pm
Where:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster, Lancaster
Details:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center has “Drumline Live” with their ‘riveting rhythms, fold beats and ear-grabbing energy”.  The show features music from Earth Wind & Fire and Tower of Power.  Tickets are available by calling 661- 723-5950 or on-line.

Action Family Counseling “Good Samaritan Walk”
When:  Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 1-3pm
Where:  Santa Clarita City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Valencia
Details:  A new California Good Samaritan law should reduce the number of drug overdose deaths.  The law gives legal protection to people who witness an overdose and call 911.  Action Family Counseling   asks, “Would you let a friend die?”  Join the “Good Samaritan Walk” to raise awareness.  You can even wear a black t-shirt or bring a poster with slogans like: Don’t Run Call 911; Call 911; or Would You Let A Friend Die?.  Listen to a podcast, of the KHTS show “Families In Action” with Cary Quashen of Action Family Counseling, on this important new law. For more information on the walk call Krissy at 904-2249 or email krisoffice@earthlink.net.

City of Santa Clarita “Shoe Drive”
When:  now through Thursday, January 31
Where:  Santa Clarita City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Valencia
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita has teamed up with Soles4Souls to collect and distribute shoes, locally, regionally and internationally for those in need.  Drop off new or gently-used shoes at: Santa Clarita City Hall, Santa Clarita Activities Center, Canyon Country Library, Old Town Newhall Library and the Valencia Library.  Click here for hours.    Since walking is the main form of transportation in many impoverished areas of the world, donated shoes are an appreciated item. 

Canyon Country Community Center Opening
When:  Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10am
Where:  Canyon Country Community Center, 18792 Flying Tiger Drive (at Sierra Highway), Canyon Country
Details:  Mayor Bob Kellar, Mayor Pro Tem Laurene Weste and Councilmembers TimBen Boydston, Frank Ferry and Marsha McLean of the City of Santa Clarita invite us to attend the Grand Opening of the Canyon Country Community Center.  Come and see what the new center has to offer. 

Dr. Thomas Polucki “Free Class”
When:  Thursday, January 10 from 7pm to 8pm
Where:  Dr. Thomas Polucki, 25050 Peachland Avenue #105, Newhall
Details:  Dr. Thomas Polucki is holding a free “No Excuses Transformation” class.  This exercise class needs no special equipment for core-metabolic conditioning.  The full exercise can be done in 20 minutes.  The class is limited to eight people.  The class starts promptly at 7pm, so please arrive no later than 6:55pm.  Dr. Polucki has been “helping people find simple, affordable, natural and effective solutions to health issues for over 21 years”.  Call 661-753-9340 to register.
