SCPAC – JazzReach “Big Drum/Small World”

Where: Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at COC, 26455 Rockwell Canyon, Valencia

CalArts Brass Signals Day Into Night
When: Saturday, April 14 from 6-8pm
Where: California Institute of the Arts, S. Mark Taper Foundation Courtyard,24700 McBean Parkway, Santa Clarita
Details: Come to the 2nd Annual WildBeast Concert Series with “CalArts Brass Signals Day Into Night”.  This free outdoor concert is family friendly.  So, pack your picnic basket, grab your blankets and get ready for a treat.  The show takes a global tour using contemporary music for brass “…with stops in Russian, France, Italy, Germany, Japan and Sweden”.  The show will use the grounds in a surprising way.  Click here for more information.   

CTG – “Barefoot in the Park”
When: Fridays at 8pm on: March 30, April 13, 20 and 27;  Saturdays at 8pm on: March 31, April 7, 14, 21 and 28;  Sundays at 2pm on: April 15 and 22
Where: Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details: How lucky can Santa Clarita get?  Canyon Theatre Guild has “Barefoot in the Park”.  Neil Simon’s play tells the story of newlyweds Paul and Corie.  Paul is a conservative young lawyer and Corie is a carefree young wife.  This comedy follows their new marriage and life in their five-story Greenwich Village walk-up.  KHTS’ own Morning Man, George Cummings plays the up-stairs neighbor Victor Velasco.  Corie and Paul play matchmaker with Victor and Corie’s mother when she comes for a visit.  On opening night there will be a champagne reception at 7pm.  Call 661-799-2702 for tickets.  Click here for more information and tickets.

Where: Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details: Canyon Theatre brings us the family friendly musical “Anne of Green Gables”.  “She’s the girl with a wild imagination and a talent for getting into trouble.”  Anne is an engaging orphan child who charms the elderly brother and sister she is sent to live with and her new community, too.  This production is a family musical for all ages.  Call 661-799-2702 for tickets or click here for more information and tickets.

COC Hazardous Waste Roundup
When: Saturday, April 14 from 9am-3pm
Where: College of the Canyon, South Parking Lot, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details: This is our opportunity to rid our homes of household hazardous waste.  This is a drive-through drop off event.  Just drive up, pop your trunk and your hazardous waste will be collected efficiently at no cost to you. There is a transportation limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste per trip.  Hazardous Waste includes:  paint, paint thinner, turpentine, pool chemicals, cleaners with acid/lye, medications, motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze, glues, degreasers, pesticides, herbicides, e-waste, compact fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries and needles.  Click here for more information.

 

LPAC – Frankie Avalon in Concert
When: Saturday, April 14 at 8pm
Where: Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W Lancaster Boulevard, Lancaster
Details: Frankie Avalon in Concert on stage at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center.  His career spans three generations of music, movies and television.  You may remember him from the “Venus” days or the Frankie & Annette days or even as Teen Angel in Grease, but whatever your memories you have an opportunity to build new ones with his high-energy performance.  Bring your kids (grandkids?) and just have fun.  Tickets are $36 for orchestra ad $31 for balcony.  Click here for information and tickets or call 661-362-5304.

Where: Fast Frame Valencia on Valencia Boulevard (in the Whole Foods/Kohl’s Center)
Details: FASTFRAME will be hosting an Artist Reception.  Drop by and meet Water Color specialist Cecily Willis.  Cecily loves old buildings and signs. She feels the need to paint them before they all disappear. As a native Californian, she has seen far too many landmarks torn down and/or destroyed. City – Earth Arbor Day Festival

Details:  This is our time, Santa Clarita, to renew our commitment to reuse, reduce and recycle at the Earth Arbor Day Festival.  There will be displays from eco-minded artists, green businesses and concerned community groups.  The day will have fun built into it with kid activities, food and entertainment.  Expect to see alternative transportation, tree care, sustainable energy, water conservation and health & wellness displays.  And you can take home a free 1-gallon tree.

Where: California Highway Patrol Newhall Office, 28648 The Old Road, north of Rye Canyon
Details: The California Highway Patrol is holding a free class called Start Smart Class.  It is open to newly licensed drivers and their parents.  The class is designed to raise awareness of the responsibilities and privileges of being a licensed California driver, as well as addresses the dangers and liabilities that lie with it.  RSVP to call 661-294-5540 and provide attending student name, parents name and daytime phone number.

What: Child & Family – Taste of the Town
When: Sunday, May 6 from 1-5pm
Where: Man Biomedical Park, 25104 Rye Canyon Loop (near Copperhill)
Details: Taste of the Town is the Child & Family Center’s premier event.  This event is a foodie’s dream come true.  Over 40 of our valley’s best restaurants and caterers will share their amazing food, wines, beers and ales.  The Champagne Diamond Drop is always popular.  Include live entertainment and live and silent auctions in a garden setting and you’ll remember why this event is considered “Best Charity Event in the SCV”.  KHTS is selling tickets to Taste of the Town. What: Tributefest 2012
When: Saturday, May 12 from 11am-10p
Where: Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Santa Clarita
Details: The 3rd Annual Tributefest is coming back to Santa Clarita.  Take eight tribute bands over ten hours, add ten gourmet food trucks, beer and dancing and you have a Tributefest party.  So, buy your tickets, then, grab your chairs/blankets for the best party in Santa Clarita.  Bands will pay tribute to Elton John, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Journey, Dave Mathews, U2, The Police and Queen.  With names like: Nom Nom, Rebel Bites, Sweet E’s, Don Chow and Great Balls On Tires, the gourmet food trucks should be a real hit.  There will be dozens of beers on tap.  KHTS is selling tickets as part of our Restaurant Row program.  The tickets are $40 each and on Restaurant Row they are $20 each.  Purchase here at the station, 27225 Camp Plenty Road (at Soledad Canyon) or purchase on-line at shopKHTS.comClick here to learn more.

What: Stand Up Guys: A Family Comedy Night
When: May 18th – 8-10pm
Where: 23841 Newhall Ranch Rd, Valencia
Details: “Standup Guys: A Family Comedy Show” benefits Veterans in the SCV Habitat for Heroes Program.  This belly laugh event will feature comedians Robert G. Lee, Kenn Kington and Daren Streblow.  Combining side splitting laughter, life changing content, advocacy and fundraising, the Standup Guys are coming to our Hometown.  This is a performance you won’t want to miss!  KHTS is selling tickets -Tickets: $15.00 before May 11th, $17.50 after May 11th and VIP Tickets: $20.00.  Click here for more information.
