CTG – “Barefoot in the Park”
When: Fridays at 8pm on: April 20 and 27;  Saturdays at 8pm on: April 14, 21 and 28;  Sundays at 2pm on: April 22
Where: Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details: How lucky can Santa Clarita get?  Canyon Theatre Guild has “Barefoot in the Park”.  Neil Simon’s play tells the story of newlyweds Paul and Corie.  Paul is a conservative young lawyer and Corie is a carefree young wife.  This comedy follows their new marriage and life in their five-story Greenwich Village walk-up.  KHTS’ own Morning Man, George Cummings plays the up-stairs neighbor Victor Velasco.  Corie and Paul play matchmaker with Victor and Corie’s mother when she comes for a visit.  On opening night there will be a champagne reception at 7pm.  Call 661-799-2702 for tickets.  Click herefor more information and tickets.

Circle of Hope-Walk For Hope
When: Saturday, April 21; check-in & registration from 8-9:15am; Walk begins at 9:30am
Where: Castaic Lake, 32132 Castaic Lake Drive, Castaic
Details: Circle of Hope is holding their 8th Annual 5K Walk and People’s Choice Car Show at Castaic Lake.  The People’s Choice Car Show includes classically restored vehicles along the 5K route.  Sign up as a family, as part of a team or just you and your pup.  Students who walk under their school’s name will get 50% of their earned pledges donated back to their school.  There will be a variety of vendors on hand offering goods and services.  New for this year is the Healthy Food Pavilion featuring a tasting and Food Network celebrity judging of the SCV Healthy Recipe Challenge.  Circle of Hope is a nonprofit assisting Santa Clarita Valley uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients and their families with financial, emotional and educational support services.  Click herefor information on walk registration fees, the Car show, SCV Healthy Recipe Challenge and Circle of Hope.

 

SCV Youth Project Sweet Charity Cake Auction
When: Saturday, April 21 from 6:30-10pm
Where: Tournament Players Club, 26550 Heritage View Lane
Details: Design a cake for one of Santa Clarita’s truly unique fundraisers, the SCV Youth Project’s 4th Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction.  Your cake can reflect your business mission, logo or product in any grand way you can imagine.  Then pair your cake with unique gifts, such as trips, baskets and certificates for places or services.  Cakes will be awarded prizes based on originality, creativity and the cake that raises the most money.  Bakers are available to help you with your dream cake.  But, if cake decorating isn’t your thing, you can still appreciate all the imaginative work by coming to the event.  You’ll have an opportunity to bid on your favorite cake while enjoying cocktails and appetizers.  If past years are a sign, this year’s event surely will be grand.  Click here for a full story by KHTS’ own, Allison Pari.  Click here for photos on last year’s event.  The cost to register a cake is $25.  General admission is $40. What: Million Meal Marathon
When: Sunday, April 22
Where: various churches around the Santa Clarita Valley
Details: Real Life Church is one of many local congregations working towards one common goal: one million meals.  Churches will gather canned food to be distributed locally through Help the Children and the SCV Food Pantry.  The project is open to anyone who is interested in helping.  Help by donating canned goods (vegetables, meats, soups, beans, fruit, etc.)at the participating churches or by packaging meals at the churches.  Click here for more information, a list of the participating churches and more on Real Life Church.  Click here to read a complete story on Million Meal Marathon. 

What: Bowman High – E-Waste Collection
When: Sunday, April 22 from 9am-3pm
Where: Santa Clarita Lanes, 21615 Soledad Canyon Road, Saugus
Details: Clean out your garage and closets.  Bowman High is holding an E-Waste Collection.  E-Waste is almost anything that can plug in.  Items on the approved list: computers, monitors, printers, televisions, VCRs, small appliances.  Larger items, such as furniture, washers/dryers and refrigerators will not be accepted.  This event is free and open to the public.  Click here for a full list of approved items for collection.

What: Tributefest 2012
