Elkins Ranch Golf-Swing Into Summer Continues
When:  Saturday, August 20
Where:  Elkins Ranch Golf Course, 1386 Chambersburg Road, in nearby Fillmore
Details:  Elkins Ranch continues to swing into summer with their Swing Easy Golf, Cart & BBQ Special.  This Saturday enjoy a round of golf, baby back ribs and live classic rock.  Rates vary; see website for details.  The doors to Elkins Ranch Bar & Grill open at 5:50pm.  Music runs from 7-11pm.  Elkins Ranch also has a Two-For-One Twilight Special on Friday, August 19.  Visit:  ElkinsRanchGC.com   

The Sanctuary Blood Drive
When:  Sunday, August 21 from 8:30am-2:30pm
Where:  The Sanctuary Church, 26444 Friendly Valley Parkway, Newhall
Details:  The Sanctuary Church is holding a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross.  “Why be ordinary, be extraordinary – donate blood.”  By donating you can be eligible to receive:  an Edible Arrangements certificate for a box of chocolate covered fruit, two tickets to the Laugh Factory, two tickets to a Chivas soccer game and be entered into a drawing for $500 gas gift card.  Visit:  TheSanctuaryChurch.com

Antelope Valley Fair
When:  Friday, August 19 through Sunday, August 28
Where:  Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 2551 W. Avenue H, Lancaster.  Traveling North on Highway 14, exit left at West Avenue H exit
Details:  The Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa Festival offers a full range of fair activities.  There will be a full carnival, rides and games.  Don’t miss out on the wide variety of livestock exhibits.  There will be rural Olympics, bull riding, demolition derby and much more.  Concert performances by:  Blue Oyster Cult & Foghat, Trace Adkins, Miranda Lambert, Goo Goo Dolls & Michelle Branch and others.   Click here for more information.  KHTS AM-1220 will be giving away family four packs of admission tickets and concert tickets, so tune in or click here to enter.

 

Concerts in the Park
When:  Saturday, August 20 at 7pm
Where:  Central Park on Bouquet Canyon
Details:  This week brings the Surf City All Stars to the Concerts in the Park.  Nothing says summer and Southern California like a band that knows all the best surf songs.  The Surf City All Stars came together as a group in the early 80s and toured with the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean.  Bring your chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy this free concert under the evening stars.

Jazz & Blues Concert
When:  Friday, August 19 from 7-9:30pm – every Friday through August 26
Where:  Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway
Details:  This week the Jazz & Blues Concert features Michael John & the Bottom Line.  They are a six piece high energy contemporary blues band.  All the Jazz & Blues Concerts are free and family friendly.  You are sure to enjoy yourself at this street party setting.  Click here for more information. 

Old Town Newhall-SENSES
When:  Thursday, August 18, starting at 7pm
Where:  Old Town Newhall
Details:  SENSES is designed to heighten your sense of sight, smell, touch, taste and sound with live music and entertainment, art, food trucks, beer, wine and more.  Each month there will be a different theme to the evening and a constantly changing musical lineup.  Main Street will transform into a big block party.  The event is open to all ages and is free.  Click here for a story on a previous SENSES evening.

Who:  YOUth Sports Festival
When:  Saturday, August 20 from 10am-2:30pm
Where:  Central Park on Bouquet
Details:  The City’s YOUth Sports Festival recognizes “the importance and significance that physical activity plays in the lives of young people in the Santa Clarita Valley”.  The day will introduce and feature over 20 recreational games and activities that will encourage your children to participate.  Food will be available for purchase.  Click here for a KHTS story on the YOUth Sports Festival.      

Who:  Golden Valley High School Band Grub Night
When:  Monday, August 22 at 7pm
Where:  Chili’s on Golden Valley Road
Details:  Support one of the largest marching bands in Santa Clarita.  You can see them perform at their season opening fundraiser at Chili’s on Monday.  Flyers are available at hometownstation.com

When:  Saturday, August 27 from 10am-6pm and Sunday, August 28 from 10am-5pm

Who:  Free Health & Wellness Day – A Back-to-School Check Up Program
When: 
Saturday, August 27 from 10am-4pm, by appointment only

The offices of Dr. Thomas Polucki, 25050 Peachland Avenue, Suite 105 in Newhall

In celebration of Children’s Health Month, Dr. Thomas Polucki wants to make sure that your children are as healthy as possible.  Do any of your children have a health problem that concerns you?  Do any of your children have allergies, need to lose weight or have problems with digestion or pain?  If the answer to one or more of these questions is “yes”, Dr. Polucki would like a chance to help.  Call his office at 661-753-9340 to schedule a free Back-to-School Check Up for your children.  Every child will receive an evaluation – a test of their diet – to see if it could be the cause of allergies or learning difficulties.  They will be screened for environmental toxins that could be stressing their immune system.  Also, they will be checked for structural and functional imbalances that can affect their performance.  Space is limited for this event.

Who:  Carousel Ranch “Heart of the West”

Where:  Agua Dulce Airport

Who:  Nominations for Single Mothers Outreach-Empowering Hearts Gala
When:  Deadline is Friday, August 26
Details:  Single Mothers Outreach is asking the community to become part of this year’s Empowering Hearts Gala and Art Exhibit, entitled “Breaking Barriers”.  They are seeking nominations for Santa Clarita women that have broken through emotional, social, economic or political barriers.  Nominees may be a part of an organization, family or network of associates and should be recognizable for their transformation in their own life or the lives of others.  The “Breaking Barriers” Art Exhibit will feature the art of 12 local artists that will attempt to capture the essence of the nominees through photography, sculpture or painting.  Click here to read more on the Single Mothers Outreach Empowering Hearts Gala.
