Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery – St Patty’s Day

College of the Canyons – Women’s Conference 2012

Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center at College of the Canyons, Valencia campus
Details:
College of the Canyons is extending an invitation to the women of the SCV to participate in an “inspirational, hands-on day of information, support and resources for women who are experiencing important transitions in their lives”.  This years Conference will recognize transitions in women’s personal and professional lives in the areas of:  Business, Education, Career, Exploration, Financial Planning and Women’s Health.  There will be interactive breakout sessions.  Tickets are $15.  Click here for more information.

LPAC – Saxophone Symphonette
When: Friday, March 16 at 8pm
Where:Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster
Details:  It’s all about jazz at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center.Under the direction of Lee Matalon, the saxophone quintet will be accompanied by a dynamic rhythm section.  They will be playing ‘everything from Bach to BeBop”.  Click here for more information and tickets.

Details:All are invited to an Open House at COC’s Dr. Dianne G. Where: Undergrounds Coffeehouse, 23841 Newhall Ranch Road (Real Life Church, lower level – near McBean Parkway)
Details: Come hear “two great bands for one special price – free”.  Stevie y Los Locos and The Vida Real Band will be featured at Undergrounds Coffeehouse.  The show starts at 8pm.  The Coffeehouse is open all day.  Though the show is free, artist donations are appreciated.  Click here to learn more.

Valencia High Student Parking Lot (corner of Dickason & Smyth)
Details: The Valencia High School Band and Color Guard is holding an E-waste Recycling fundraiser. Accepted items include:  inkjet, toner/laser cartridges, televisions,  cameras,  cell phones, keyboards, telephone equipment, monitors, computers,  laptops,  copiers, microwaves, small appliances, stereos, printers, VCRs, DVD players, car batteries and more.  Items not accepted:  hazardous waste items, liquids or large appliances (stoves, washers/dryers, etc).

What: Soroptimist – Fashion, Fun & Fantasy
When: Sunday, March 18, doors open at 5:30pm
Where: Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia (at McBean Parkway)
Details: The Soroptimist “Fashion, Fun & Fantasy” event offers up a fashion show, dinner and entertainment.  Individual tickets are $80, sponsor tables are available.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit education for women in-need in the Santa Clarita Valley, through the COC Foundation.  Click here to learn more.

What: SENSES “Luck of the Irish”

This month’s theme is “Luck of the Irish”.  Every third Thursday SENSES comes to us at Old Town Newhall.  SENSES is designed to heighten your sense of sight, smell, touch, taste and sound.  Main Street will turn into a block party with live music, entertainment, interactive activities, art displays, giveaways and more.  Not to be missed are the festive food trucks.

What: Emergency Expo (part of the SC Home & Garden Show)

Details: Learn to be prepared at the Emergency Expo.  This year the Emergency Expo will be part of the Home & Garden Show (see entry above).  The Emergency Expo will take place on Saturday only.  There will be several demonstrations, such as Drop/Cover/Hold, dog rescue, fire turnout competition and climbing rescue.  The kids can enjoy face painting, Smokey Bear and crafts.  Admission to the Emergency Expo is free.  Make a plan, build a kit, stay informed.  Click here for more information.
