SCVi Charter School Benefit Dinner
When: Friday, March 23, from 6-11p
Where: Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia (at McBean Parkway)
Details: Come to Santa Clarita Valley International Charter School’s “Visions in Education” Benefit Dinner. This year’s honoree is Dennis King, former member of College of the Canyons Foundation Board, member of William S. Music Undergrounds “Love Not Lost”

When: Fridays – March 23rd and 30th, 2012, Dinner is served from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Where: St. Clare’s is located at 19606 Calla Way in Canyon Country.
Details:  St Clare’s Lenten Fish Fry “Reels you in!”  On the menu: Beer Battered Alaskan Cod, Rice Pilaf or French Fries, Coleslaw and Rolls
Coffee, Tea or Milk.  The cost: $8.50 for the 2-piece dinner; $9.50 for the 3-piece dinner; take-out available!  Desserts and beverages are also available for purchase.  The goal of the annual Fish Fry is to raise funds to help community services such as the Santa Clarita Valley

What: Passover Seder – hosted by Sisterhoods of Congregation Beth Shalom & Temple Beth Ami

Where: Valencia Hills Clubhouse, 4060 Oak Vale Drive, Valencia
Details: This Seder, hosted by Sisterhoods of Congregation Beth Shalom & Temple Beth Ami, will retell the story of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt and will highlight the role of women in Jewish history.  The Passover story is found in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament.  Seders are conducted in similar ways all over the world on the 14th day of the Hebrew calendar month of Nisan, which corresponds this year to April 6th. When: Thursday, March 29 from 6-9pm
Where: Route 66 Classic Grill, 18730 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country
Details: “Back to the War Zone” is holding a fundraiser at Route 66 Classic Grill.  This non-profit’s objective is to fund a trip to the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. for a group of local WWII Vets.  They also will be placing a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  A minimum donation of $75 includes dinner.  There will be a musical tribute to our local WWII veteran heroes presented by Jimmy Carnelli singing a variety of WWII classics.  Expect to meet several veterans who surely will share their stories.    For reservations call 661-373-4770.  Click here to learn more about Back to the War Zone.

Zonta’s LifeForward workshops are designed to benefit women who are underserved, in need, or at risk. Details: Learn to be prepared at the Emergency Expo.  This year the Emergency Expo will be part of the Home & Garden Show (see entry above).  The Emergency Expo will take place on Saturday only.  There will be several demonstrations, such as Drop/Cover/Hold, dog rescue, fire turnout competition and climbing rescue.  The kids can enjoy face painting, Smokey Bear and crafts.  Admission to the Emergency Expo is FREE.  Make a plan, build a kit, stay informed.  Click here for more information.
