Santa Clarita Christian 30th Anniversary Celebration
When: Friday, March 9 at 7pm
Where: Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive (at McBean Parkway)
Details: Santa Clarita Christian is holding a 30th Anniversary Celebration & Fundraiser.  Santa Clarita Christian will celebrate their 30th year of education based on the five pillars:  academic excellence, spiritual development, creative expression, athletic distinction and servant leadership.  Click here to participate in the on-line auction.  Other items will be available only at the banquet.  The special guest speaker of the evening is Alex Kendrick.  Under his guidance as Associate Pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA, he has developed Christian films, such as “Facing the Giants”, “Fireproof” and “Courageous”.  Tickets start at $100. SCPAC – SecondCity Laugh Out Loud Tour
When: Friday, March 9 at 8pm
Where: Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details:Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center brings us Second City Laugh Out Loud Tour.  It should be an evening of high humor.  Second City launched the careers of Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Stephen Colbert and many more.  Click here for tickets and to learn more.

LPAC – “Moonlight & Magnolias”
When: Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 at 8pm; Sunday, March 11 at 2pm
Where: Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Boulevard, Lancaster
Details: “Moonlight & Magnolias” at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center is a comedy that tells the story of the five days in 1939 when David O. Selznick shut-down the production of “Gone With The Wind” to rewrite the screenplay.  Click here for tickets or more information.

What:  St Francis Dam Tour
When: Sunday, March 11 starting at 11am
Where: Tour starts at the Saugus Train Station on Newhall Avenue (formerly San Fernando Road, near Hart Park)
Details:  Frank Rock, The Dam Man Historian, will lead a tour to the St Francis Dam site to commemorate the 84th anniversary of California’s second worst natural disaster.  The collapse of the dam in 1928 killed more than 450 people and destroyed property and livestock.  The tour starts with a short presentation before a bus trip to the dam site for and hike to the ruins.  The cost is $35 which includes snacks and transportation.  Participants should wear long pants and hiking shoes.  Call 661-254-1275 for tickets.  Click here to read more.

When: Saturday, March 10 starting at 8am
Where: Albertson’s parking lot on Haskell at Bouquet Canyon
Details: Choices Support Group provides life skills education and support to teen moms.  The rummage sale will benefit Choices Support Group.

What: GVHS Jazz – Grub Night
When: Monday, March 12
Where: Rattler’s BBQ Restaurant on Golden Valley Road across from Sam’s Club
Details: Golden Valley High School Jazz Bands 1 & 2 will perform at a special fundraiser at Rattler’s BBQ.  A portion of the sales will benefit the GVHS Band.  Click here for more information and a flyer.

The 3rd Annual Santa Clarita Home & Garden Show is going to be bigger than ever.  Over 130 businesses and organizations will be participating.  New for 2012 is the Emergency Expo with emergency equipment and displays where you can learn to be prepared (see entry below).  There will be a Kid’s Zone, RV Show and Garden Party Community Stage.  Expect drawings, give-aways and promotional discounts.  On Sunday there will be plant give-aways.    Click here to learn more about the Home & Garden show and to download admission coupons.

What: Emergency Expo (part of the SC Home & Garden Show)
When: Saturday, March 31 from 9am-5pm
Where:
Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia (Town Center at McBean Parkway)
Details: Learn to be prepared at the Emergency Expo.  This year the Emergency Expo will be part of the Home & Garden Show (see entry above).  The Emergency Expo will take place on Saturday only.  There will be several demonstrations, such as Drop/Cover/Hold, dog rescue, fire turnout competition and climbing rescue.  The kids can enjoy face painting, Smokey Bear and crafts.  Admission to the Emergency Expo is free.  Make a plan, build a kit, stay informed.  Click here for more information.
