Triumph Foundation – Wheelchair Sports Clinic
When: Saturday, May 26 from 9am-5pm
Where:
Santa Clarita Sports Complex, 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita
Details:
Experience the exciting world of adaptive wheelchair sports.  Come to a clinic where you can try out sport chairs while getting tutorials on how to play the games.  “If you have ever thought about trying out wheelchair sports and would like to experience the action, come out and participate in this free event”.  This event is open to all.  There will be a concession stand selling lunch and snacks.  All proceeds benefit Disabled Sports & Fitness which promotes and develops sports programs and events for challenged athletes.  Triumph Foundation’s mission is to help individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries to triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day.  Click here to learn more about Triumph Foundation.

College of the Canyons – Comedians of the Canyons Final Evening of Improv
When: Saturday, May 26 at 8pm
Where: College of the Canyons – Valencia Campus, Pico Canyon Hall, Room 202
Details:
The College of the Canyons’ theatre department will host an “evening of unscripted laughter and excitement as the college’s student improv troupe, Comedians of the Canyons, presents its final show of the spring semester”.  The troupe is made up of student performers enrolled in the college’s advanced improvisational performance theatre class.  During each performance, scenes are made up on the spot using audience suggestions. There is no script and no safety net, which makes each performance exciting and hilarious to watch.  The evening is free and open to the public. Leukemia & Lymphoma – “Ride”
When: Saturday, May 26, from 11am-1pm
Where: Spokes is located at 26635 Valley Center Drive, Unit 106, 661-291-1196
Details: Sarah Rock is asking you to ‘ride’ for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at Spokes Indoor Cycling.  The event is a class led by a Spokes instructor.  Music will accompany the ride and light snacks and conversation will follow.  The suggested donation is $15.  Spokes will donate half of the proceeds from any cycling packages sold at the event to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Click here for more information on Sarah Rock’s fundraising page.

What: Canyon Theatre Guild “Thoroughly Modern Millie”
When: Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm:  5/26, 6/2, 6/9, 6/15, 6/16, 6/22, 6/23;  Saturdays and Sundays 2pm:  5/27, 6/3, 6/10, 6/16, 6/17, 6/23, 6/24
Where: Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details: The Canyon Theatre Guild brings us the Broadway Tony Award winning musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie”.  The play takes place in New York during the roaring ‘20s.  It tells the story of Millie Dillmount a shiny-faced new-comer to the big city.   Tickets are $15 for juniors/seniors and $17 for adults.  Some of the material presented may not be suitable for young children.  Canyon Theatre Guild is offering free tickets to the unemployed and their family, with proof of unemployment.  Click here for more information and tickets or call 661-799-2702.

LPAC – Lee Matalon’s Big Band

Details:

What: Little Chefs, Teen Chefs Cooking Camp
When: various sessions starting June 18 and ending August 24

Details:
Former White House chef, Louis Eguaras has started Little Chefs & Teen Chefs Cooking Camp.  The 10-week sessions teach young chefs how to cook delicious, healthy meals.  The idea is to instill a lifelong love of cooking and an understanding of the importance of a healthy diet.  Program Sessions include:  Culinary Foundations, Baking Foundations, American traditions, Best Breakfast Ever, Cooking Meals All Day, International Cuisine, Crazy About Sweets and Regional Cuisine.  Click here for more information and session dates or call 661-381-1540.
