Teen & Parent Relationship Training with Alex Urbina
When:  Saturday, November 12, from 8:30am-5pm and Sunday, November 13 from 9am-4pm
Where:   Teen Life Leadership, 27225 Camp Plenty, Suite 10-B, Santa Clarita
Details:  Have you ever stopped long enough to look at the relationships you have with your teenagers, spouse and family?  This two-day workshop is designed to help families reconnect and redesign their relationships.  Participants will learn how to communicate effectively with each other.  Parents and teens will be exposed to unique and rare opportunities to understand each other.  This workshop is designed for ages 14 and older, and is limited to the first 15 families to register.  The workshop is conducted by Alex Urbina, a Transformational Family Life Coach, motivational speaker and bestselling author.  He is a local resident.  Call 661-505-5021 or click here to read more and register.     

Rituals Colour Salon – TOMS Paint Your Sole
When:  Saturday, November 12 from 3-5pm
Where:   Rituals Colour Salon, Westridge Shopping Center, 26918 The Old Road, Valencia

Veterans Day Ceremony
When:  Friday, November 11 at 11am
Where:  Veteran’s Historical Plaza, 24275 N. Walnut Street, Old Town
Details:  Commemorate Veterans Day at our local Veterans Day Ceremony.  It is a day to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans in service of our country.  The ceremony will include a reading by J.D. Kennedy to recognize those missing in action (MIA) and prisoners of war (POW).   There will be a changing of the flags by the Knights of Columbus Santa Clarita Assembly and representatives from various armed services recruiting offices.  Guest speakers include City Councilmembers, Captain Ed Colley, Pastor John Shaver and Navy Veteran Duane Harte who will serve as Master of Ceremonies.  Little Ladiez and local singer Gayle La Rone will perform.  The event will take place rain or shine.  Click here for more information.         

MOPS – Holiday Boutique
When:  Saturday, November 12 from 9am-4pm
Where:  Grace Baptist Church, 22833 Copperhill Drive
Details:  This Mothers of Preschoolers Holiday Boutique will have over 40 vendors with children and adult apparel, accessories, home décor, food items, holiday décor and more.  They will have food trucks available for lunch.  There will be a bake sale for a quick treat or for taking home to the family.  Take part in the huge raffle. 

Blessed Kateri – Holiday Boutique
When:  Sunday, November 13 from 8am-3pm
Where:   Blessed Kateri Church, 22508 Copperhill Drive
Details:  Browse through a unique assortment of gift items at the Blessed Kateri Holiday Boutique.  They will have an abundance of merchandise that will fit anyone on your gift list, plus a few items to keep for yourself. 

Festival of Trees
When:  Friday, November 11 through Wednesday, November 23 (see hours below)
Where:  New location – Westfield Valencia Town Center (between The Patios & Sears
Details:  The 9th Annual Festival of Trees is here!  They have more days and a new location.  The decorated holiday trees, tabletops, wreaths and gingerbread houses are sure to be stunning.  There will be a Children’s Corner featuring crafts and other child oriented activities.  The Festival of Trees benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita.  The festival features many events during its run. The VIP Preview will be held Friday, November 11 from 7-9pm.  This is an opportunity to get a sneak peek at the Festival the night before the event opens to the public.  Wine will be served at the VIP Preview.  The cost is $20 per person, and tickets are available at the door.  On Saturday, November 12 from 7:30-11:30pm, enjoy Jingle Jam Nightclub.  This will be a festive adult experience with live music of famed recording artist Rick Whitfield and dancing to one of LA’s hottest DJs.  The cost if $65 per person which includes appetizers and two drinks.  Advance reservations are required.  Holiday Hocus Pocus-An Evening of Magic takes place on Friday, November 18 from 6:30-9:30pm.  This is the 5th annual magic show, and is organized by the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 280.  The cost is $10 per person, and tickets are available in advance and at the door.  The grand event of the Festival is the Magic of the Lights Gala.  The Gala takes place Saturday, November 19 from 6:30-11pm.  The night features a live auction of the trees, gourmet food, a no-host bar and entertainment.  The Gala will be catered by Salt Creek Grille.  Festive attire is appropriate.  The cost is $75 per person, and advance reservations are required.  In addition to the events, the Festival of Trees is open to the public.  The public hours are:  November 12, 10am-5pm; November 13, Noon-6pm; November 14-17, 11am-8pm; November 18, 10am-5pm; November 19, 10am-3pm; November 20, Noon-7pm; November 21-22, 11am-8pm; November 23, 9am-5pm.  Festival admission:  $6 per person 15 and over; $3 per child ages 4-14; ages 3 and under are free; $4 per senior (65 and over).  Call 661-254-3063 or click here for more information.

What:  SC Fine Craft Show
When:  SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN as of 11/10/11 – was scheduled for Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13 from 10am-5pm
Where:  Old Orchard Park, 25023 Avenida Rotella at Lyons Avenue
Details:  Grab your holiday gift list.  The city is holding its annual Fine Craft show this weekend.  Enjoy a day of shopping for fine handcrafted items, such as jewelry, pottery, woodwork and so much more.  Food and drink stands will fill your cravings while you listen to the sounds of music. 

What:  Brittany Foundation – Day in Their Paws & Open House
When:  Saturday, November 12 for 24 hours; Open House from noon-4pm
Where:  Brittany Foundation at the corner of Sierra Highway and Anthony Road in Agua Dulce
Details:  To answer why she and 20 volunteers would live in a kennel, with a homeless dog of their choice, to raise awareness of how shelter dogs live daily, Ashlyn Burgin of the Brittany Foundation said, “I am hoping to show people that shelter dogs are not broken, that they love unconditionally and are as good as any dog you’d find from a breeder.”  Day in Their Paws has the volunteers participate for 24 hours to experience a dog’s life.  They raise money for the non-profit by having sponsors buy their freedom for $1 per minute.  From noon to 4pm, there will also be an Open House for the public to tour the sanctuary and meet the dogs.  There will be live music, a silent auction and raffle.  Refreshments will be catered by Los Angeles chef Stefan Niemczyk, Margo’s Bark Root Beer and a bake sale.  Click here to learn more about Day in Their Paws & Open House and the Brittany Foundation.   

What:  PAC – MOMIX: Botanica
When:  Sunday, November 13 at 7pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyond
Details: Momix defies definition.  It is a show of mesmerizing dancers who defy gravity.  Since the debut of their newest show, Botanica, in Italy last winter, Momix has played to packed houses around the world.  The show has been described as magical, beautiful and enthralling.  Botanica is a show for the entire family.  It has spectacular costumes, projections and giant puppetry designed by Michael Curry, production designer for Cirque du Soleil, Disney and the Metropolitan Opera.  Tickets range from $20-$45.  Click here to learn more.
