SCV Youth Project-Hold ‘Em Not Hassle ‘Em Poker
When:  Saturday, October 15, check in at 5pm, tournament at 6pm
Where:  Gateway Promenade, 28738 The Old Road, north of the CHP Station
Details:  This is the 5th Annual Hold ‘Em Not Hassle ‘Em fundraising event.  The evening includes Texas Hold ‘Em poker, silent auction, cigar area, raffle and live music.  Players compete for prizes, including gift certificates, trips and airline tickets.  The grand prize is an entry into the World Series of Poker 2012, two round-trip tickets on Southwest and a Vegas hotel stay.  There will be an Italian dinner with wine, and for non-poker players there will be blackjack and roulette tables.  All guests will have an opportunity to bid on exclusive packages, including sporting events, movie baskets, an aerial scenic tour, autographed posters/scripts and musical instruments, VIP tickets to Jimmy Kimmel LIVE and more.  Tickets are $125.  Non-player tickets are $40.  Click here to read more on this event.  Visit:  HelpNotHassle.com   

Alex Urbina-Teen Leadership Training
When:  Saturday, October 15 from 10am-6pm and Sunday, October 16 from 10am-5pm
Where:  27225 Camp Plenty Road, Suite 10B, Corner of Soledad & Camp Plenty
Details:  Your teens can have a powerful life-altering weekend with Teen Life Leadership Training.  The workshop is designed to help teens discover their personal power and boost their confidence.  They will learn how to overcome their self-limitations and learn their full potential to live responsibly, independence and thrive for success.  Alex Urbina, a local Santa Clarita resident, is presenting the event.  Alex Urbina is a Transformational Family Life Coach, motivational speaker and bestselling author.  This two-day event is open to teens ages 14-19.  The cost is $99 for Santa Clarita residents. Habitat for Humanity–American Dream Walk
When:  Saturday, October 15 at 9am
Where:  Plaza Pacoima, 13500 Paxton Street in Pacoima
Details:  “Santa Clarita residents are invited to put on their walking shoes and to dream of a better life for American Veterans.”  Habitat San Fernando & Santa Clarita is holding its Third Annual American Dream Walk.  “Did you know that 700 hometown heroes are fighting the war on terror?”  Habitat SCV wants to make their homecoming as welcome as possible.  All proceeds of the walk will pay for home modifications and repairs to homes for deserving families in our community.  Join the 5K Walk and Community Picnic. CTG “Dracula”
When:  Fridays at 8pm on 10/21, 10/28;  Saturdays at 8pm on 10/15, 10/22, 0/29;

Where:  Canyon Theater Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  You’ll surely be ready for Halloween after seeing CTG’s “Dracula”.  Don’t miss this exciting adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”.  The production displays humor and horror while telling the story of Dracula.  This play is not recommended for children.  Click here for tickets and more information.

CTG “Little Prince”
When:  Saturdays at 2pm on 10/15, 10/22, 10/29; Sundays at 2pm on 10/23, 10/30; Sundays at 6pm on 10/16
Where:  Canyon Theater Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  “The only limit is imagination.”  The Little Prince is a charmingly magical story that your entire family will enjoy.  Click here for tickets and more information. 

SCAA-Art Classic
When:  Saturday, October 15 from 2-5pm.  Free public viewing on Sun, Oct 16 from 10a-4p.
Where:  Hart Hall in Hart Park, 24151 Newhall Avenue in Newhall
Details:  The Santa Clarita Artist Association Art Classic features wine, appetizers, live entertainment and art in various media.  The event features over 100 pieces of original art created by members of the SCAA.  Categories of visual art range from acrylics, graphics, oil, watercolors, photography and sculpture.  Many artists will be in attendance.  The Art Classic helps fund a scholarship to a local high school senior who will major in art in college or art school.  Tickets are $30.  On Sunday, October 16, there will be a free public viewing that will also have origami lesson and face painting for kids.  Visit:  SantaClaritaArtists.org 

Soroptimist-Wine Affair
When:  Sunday, October 16 from 2-4pm
Where:  Town Center Drive and The Patios at the Valencia Town Center Mall
Details:  Sip, stroll and savor the sounds at the Soroptimist Wine Affair in support of Women’s Health & Wellness.  Ten restaurants, retailers and wine stores feature wine tasting, food and entertainment.  Each location is a simple stroll from each other.  Tickets are $50.  Participants must be 21 years or older.  Visit:  TheWineAffair.org

What:  Lancaster PAC-Ethan Bortnick
When:  Sunday, October 16 at 3pm
Where:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 Lancaster Boulevard, Lancaster
Details:  Ethan Bortnick is making history by being the youngest musician, composer, entertainer to headline a national concert tour.  His show is “amazingly fun, inspiring, funny, interactive and filled with surprises.”  This trip through music’s history runs from Mozart to Rock n’ Roll, from Beatles to Bieber.  This is a concert the entire family can enjoy.  Visit:  LPAC.org     

What: Circus Vargas

Details:  “The Big One is Back! – Circus Vargas, Circus Vargas”
Circus Vargas is back with an all new show featuring death defying feats, acrobats, motorcycle stunts, lovable Monty the Clown and so much more.  Kids get a special treat for 30 minutes before the show.  They can come into the ring to try their hand at juggling and hoola-hoops.  Show times vary.  Visit:  CircusVargas.com

What:  Lombardi Ranch

Details:  Get into the spirit of the changing seasons at Lombardi Ranch. What:  Circle of Hope-Afternoon Tea
When:  Saturday, October 15 from 1-4pm
Where:   Sand Canyon Estate

What:  Ice Station-Valencia Flyers Hockey
When:  Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 at 7:25pm each day
Where:  Ice Station Valencia, 27745 N. Smyth Drive (across from Valencia High School)
Details:  See the fast paced, hard hitting action of Junior Hockey at its finest at the season opening of the Valencia Flyers Ice Hockey.  Ice Station Valencia is the proud home of the Western States Hockey League Junior A Tier III Valencia Flyers.  Friday and Saturday the Flyers play against the Long Beach Bombers.  Kings alumni and ice crew will be signing autographs and handing out giveaways on Friday.  Tickets start as low as$5.  Click here to learn more. 

What:  SCV Historical Society-Film/TV History Class
When:  Saturday, October 15 and Saturday, October 22 from 1-4pm
Where:  Each class will begin at the historic Saugus Train Station inside Heritage Junction in Newhall
Details:  “Have you ever wanted to get a peek inside Walt Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch?”  You’ll get your chance at a two-part “Newhallywood on Location: Film/TV History of the SCV” class.  This is a rare opportunity to see inside the Disney facility and tour the property.  The class will be hosted by SCV film historian and author, E.J.
