Thousands Run In Rain

Over 2,000 runners participated in the 2004 Santa Clarita Marathon Sunday morning under cloudy skies and a few drops of drizzle by the middle of the race….

The full marathon spanned an entire 26.2 miles, while participants had the choice of running in a half marathon (13 miles) as well as a 5K and 10K track.

The marathon was a large success with the huge turnout, as Mayor Bob Kellar helped kick off the race at 7 a.m. sharp.

Last year’s race was cancelled because of the fires, which makes this year’s Santa Clarita’s 9th marathon.

More on the run as well as pictures from the race can be seen in today’s Signal.
