The company invites community members to bring their unopened toy donations to the company’s Solar Design Center on Westinghouse Place near the I-5 and 126 freeways.
Every donation of a new, unwrapped toy worth $10 or more will receive a $10 gift card for Peet’s Coffee and Tea in return.
The Marine Toys for Tots program was founded in 1847 by Major Bill Hendricks of the United States Marine Corp Reserves, according to the Toys for Tots Foundation history.
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
In the last few years, Toys for Tots has been distributing over 16 million toys to more than 7 million children yearly.
This year, SunPower by Green Convergence is an official donation center for Toys for Tots.
The company opened it’s Solar Design Center, where they will be collecting toy donations, back in August.
The facility showcases solar technology from SunPower Corporation, including SunPower solar panels, the most efficient solar panels available on the market today, and monitoring technology that allows homeowners and businesses to monitor solar system production throughout the day.
The solar company is active in the community, being involved with homes for heroes, and a cash for kids program to help support after school activities.
