The fundraiser took place Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, with hundreds of people coming out to support.

Guests who paid the $100 buy-in donation were able to enjoy food, drinks, gambling and dancing.

A silent auction also took place with items ranging from Knott’s Berry Farm tickets to several gift baskets.

The Casino Night marks the Triumph Foundation’s first event since a devastating fire caused it to lose more than $10,000 in equipment.

“We’re just now starting the rebuilding process,” said founder Andrew Skinner. “This event came up so quickly that we really just had to focus on getting through this before we start collecting items that we are really going to need.”

The Triumph Foundation’s storage unit was completely destroyed in a fire that took place in Canyon Country on June 26.

Items lost in the fire included more than 50 care baskets that were meant for newly injured spinal cord injury patients.

“We didn’t just lose things that cost money. These care baskets took a lot of love and a lot of labor to make,” Skinner said.

Community members learned about the losses and proceeded to help the foundation in whatever way they could. Donations poured in, and the Casino Night fundraiser brought in its biggest audience yet.

“We’re just so thrilled that the community has rallied behind us to make this event such a big success,” Skinner said. “We have over 300 people here, which is larger than we’ve ever had before.”

With proceeds from the fundraiser and donations, Skinner and the Triumph Foundation are looking forward to the future.

“I know that it’s not just going to be tonight. It’s going to be carrying forward in the months and years ahead. I think in the long term, this is going to catapult us and put us on the map. A lot of people didn’t know about us before the fire happened, and I think once people hear about what we’re doing, they’ll want to become more involved in our foundation.”
