The Triumph Foundation will be holding its fourth annual Wheelchair Sports Festival on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.

“You don’t need to own any equipment, know what you’re doing or be in a wheelchair,” said Andrew Skinner, who’s the executive director for the Triumph Foundation. “We want to use this event to show the community the people living with these physical impairments in a way people don’t often see.”

The festival will feature wheelchair hockey, basketball, quad rugby (murderball), racquetball, handcycling, art workshops and resource fair.

There will be T-shirts for sell and anyone can make donations to the Triumph Foundation to help support their cause.

Over 500 participants are expected to participated in the event plus many spectators and volunteers.

The Triumph Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help individuals with Spinal Cord Injury triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day.

“We specialize in helping people right when they become paralyzed,” Skinner said. “We do a lot of hospital outreach and meeting with people in the hospital when they’re first injured to get them out to play.”

The Triumph Foundation is also preparing for its casino night fundraiser on Saturday, July 18 at the Hyatt.

The Santa Clarita Sports Complex is located at 20870 Centre Pointe Pkwy, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
