The 52nd Annual Premier Volunteer Recognition Event will announce both a Man and Woman of the Year in May.

Event officials for the May 6 Santa Clarita Valley Man and Woman of the Year awards dinner — an annual ceremony that celebrates volunteerism valleywide — announced tables are still available for their Friday, May 5 dinner and awards ceremony at the Valencia Hyatt Regency. Individual tickets, sponsored tables and premium table reservations can still be purchased.
The Annual Premier Volunteer Recognition Event has been held for 52 years within the Santa Clarita Valley, with last year’s winners being Jim Lentini & Lois Bauccio, according to the organization’s website.
“This year’s nominees for Woman of the Year, and the organizations which nominated them, include: Mary Ann Bennett, SRD Straightening Reins Foundation; Jane Bettencourt-Soto, Forged by Fire Foundation; Ann-Marie Bjorkman, SCV Boys and Girls Club; Marianne Cederlind, Carousel Ranch; Tami Edwards, Rotary Club of SCV; Diane Green, SCV Disaster Coalition, Sandra Ann Hardy, Girl Scouts of Greater LA,” according to the organization’s press release.
“Also Tracy Hauser, SCV Senior Center; Pam Ingram, Soroptimist International of Greater SCV; Janine Jones, American Cancer Society; Laina McFerren, SCV Child & Family Center; Gloria Mercado-Fortine, Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers; Janice Murray, Circle of Hope; Susan Reynolds, Domestic Violence Center and Boy Scouts; Christine Sarro Sexton, Zonta Club of SCV; and Doris Marie Zimmer, College of the Canyons Foundation,” said the release.
“Man of the Year Nominees are Alan Ferdman, Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers; Tom Hough, Boy Scouts of America; Taylor Kellstrom, Circle of Hope and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles; Jonathan Kraut, Domestic Violence Center; Nick Lentini, Child & Family Center and Rotary Club of SCV; Randy Moberg, College of the Canyons Foundation,” said the release.
“Also Bruce Munster, SRD Straightening Reins Foundation; Kirk Nelson, American Red Cross; Todd Stevens, SCV Senior Center; Eric Stroh, Carousel Ranch; Chuck Strong, American Legion Hall; and Jim Ventress, SCV Boys and Girls Club,” said the release.
From this pool of nominees, one winner will be chosen from both the men and women and announced at the dinner event. The two winners will each be given $1,000 to allocate to a charity of their own choosing.
