Dozens of Santa Clarita residents were entertained at the Valencia Marketplace Kid’s Club on Saturday.
In addition to a performance by the SCVI Charter School Choir, the Halloween-themed event featured a children’s craft table, a costume parade and an appearance by Magic Castle balloon mage Dennis Forel.
“Each time, the [Kid’s Club] is a little different depending on the holiday. It’s a fun event for the kids in the area,” said Connie Cashin, the Valencia Marketplace marketing director. “I think everybody had a great time.”
The Valencia Marketplace Kid’s Club is a quarterly event held at the amphitheater between Starbucks and Jamba Juice.
Although each event reflects a different holiday theme, all Kid’s Clubs feature free activities to entertain children and their families.
Several children, in Halloween costumes ranging from an evil-looking jester to Dorothy from “The Wizard of OZ,” colored at the craft table sponsored by the Montessori school of Stevenson Ranch.
Representatives from local businesses like Mod Pizza and Wood Ranch dropped by the KHTS booth throughout the day to discuss their unique eats and specials with KHTS AM-1220 morning show host Kyle Jellings, who was doing a live broadcast from the marketplace.
The day also featured an appearance from the reigning beauty pageant winners of Santa Clarita, including Miss Santa Clarita USA Emily Chally, who will be competing for the national pageant title from Long Beach in January.
The beauty queens took photos with the younger children, who thought they were princesses as they were fully dressed in their competition gowns.
The next Valencia Marketplace Kid’s Club is scheduled for December.
