At another Valencia Nissan Pet Adoption Day set for this weekend, Santa Clarita’s animal lovers are invited to adopt a dog or cat from the Castaic Animal Shelter for free.

Residents can stop by the dealership on Creekside Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to meet adoptable dogs and cats from the shelter.

“We’re really excited about it,” said Bob Bailey, Valencia Nissan’s executive manager, in a previous interview. “With all the participation and the way that the last one turned out, it was just huge.”

Valencia Nissan is once again covering the cost of adoption fees for dogs at the event, while fees are currently covered for cats at all Los Angeles County animal shelters by the ASCPA.

In addition, Valencia Nissan is planning to issue vouchers to attendees who don’t see their new best friend at the event so they can still adopt from the Castaic Animal Shelter for free within two weeks of the event.

The first Valencia Nissan Pet Adoption Day held in May, which only featured dogs, resulted in 9 adoptions and 25 vouchers issued that day, with at least three vouchers redeemed at the shelter in the following weeks.

“It was a huge success,” said Don Barre, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control, in a previous interview. “This is a great opportunity for Castaic to bring our adoptable dogs into the community and give them every opportunity to be seen and adopted… We’re all very happy.”
