Valentine’s Day Pet Adoption Hosted By Los Angeles County Animal Care Center

The Los Angeles County Animal Care Center is hosting the “My Furry Valentine Adoption Event” Valentines Day weekend in an effort to help both animals and potential owners find their new loved one.

Adoption fee will be discounted to $14, plus the cost of sterilization, mircohip and licensing, according to a news release.

Chief Deputy Director Betsey Webster said that adopting an animal is the best way to find your new pet.

“There is an over abundance of wonderful, loveable, adoptable animals at shelters throughout California, and if you adopt an animal, you’re actually helping to save a life and it can be a rewarding experience,” Webster said.

She added that owning an animal is good for your health and is shown to help with various types of diseases, keeps owners calmer and can lower their chances of depression.

“Your pet could be the love of your life, so why not bring more love into your own life on Valentines Day?” she said.

The animal center is encouraging people adopt pets for themselves.

“We’re not encouraging people adopt for their loved one, although if they both share that idea and wanted to adopt a pet together that would be great,” Webster said.

The Valentine’s Day discount takes place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at all Los Angeles County Care Center Locations beginning Valentines Day and ending Sunday, Feb. 16.
