Santa Clarita Valley residents are needed to volunteer for the 2014 Santa Clarita Marathon set for November, city officials announced Wednesday.
Organizations, groups and individuals can sign up for a variety of roles and shifts available on race day.
“The Santa Clarita Marathon is one of the most prestigious and well-organized running events in California, and it would not be possible without the support of hundreds of volunteers,” said Mayor Laurene Weste.
Individuals can sign up to serve as course monitors to keep runners on the right path and encourage them with hand-made signs and cheering.
Groups and organizations can sign up to run water stations along the race route and hand out water cups to racers.
“Volunteering is a great way to meet other people, cheer on runners and enjoy the thrill of the marathon without ever breaking a sweat,” Weste said.
Residents can sign up to volunteer online. The 2014 Santa Clarita Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, Nov 2.
