Established in 2000, Lunafest brings women together in their communities by highlighting women as leaders in society through nine short films by women filmmakers.

To date 110 filmmakers have been features and nearly $1.9 million has been raised, according to the Lunafest website.

Films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers. Trailers of this year’s films can be previewed online, by clicking the blue box at upper right corner.

The event will be hosted by the Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley, an organization of over 60 professional women who have strived to advance the status of women through service, advocacy and awareness since they were founded in 1974.

The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley is one of more than 1,200 Zonta Clubs part of Zonta International, an organization with more than 30,000 members. Zonta International has consultative status with the United Nations and is the means by which we participate in service projects around the world.

All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Zonta Club’s local and global programs to improve the lives of women. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, raised over $556,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and over $1,000,000 for other women’s non-profit organizations.

The event will take place at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Downtown Newhall at 7 p.m. General admission is $40 and includes admission to screening, pre-screening lobby reception, food, a glass of wine and a swag bag and are available to purchase here.
