EverythingSCV.com by Michele E. Buttelman for December 8, 2013

Welcome to EverythingSCV.com for Dec. 8, 2013

It IS looking a lot like Christmas in the Santa Clarita Valley! The holiday season is in full swing and we even had some freezing weather to make it feel even more like Christmas! I never can really get into the season when I’m running the air conditioning!

KHTS Holiday Light Tour

It was great fun to roam the streets of the SCV with fellow KHTS Holiday Light Tour judges Carl Goldman, Jesse McClure and Jim Walker. It was great to connect with the community and “meet-and-greet” new friends along the way! Visit www.hometownstation.com for a complete list of Holiday Light Tour winner (it should be posted by Tuesday) and our route (if you’d like to follow the same path the judges took).

HMNMH Home Tour Gala

It was an evening of beautiful homes and a beautiful party Friday evening at the 33rd annual Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation Home tour League Holiday Home Tour Preview Gala. The fundraiser benefited Henry Mayo’s Women’s Services. Guests were able to tour the four homes and then enjoy a wonderful buffet dinner at the Tournament Players Club in Men in kilts. Left to right, Patrick Tremblay, Megan McDonald and John McDonald at the Home Tour Preview Gala.Westridge. Kudos to the homeowners who opened their homes to the public for this important fundraiser: David and Lori Cantrell, John and Ellen McDonald, Andrew Wedemeyer and Jenny Guthrie and Brian and Sarah Daly. A round of applause for the designers and decorators and volunteers that make Home tour such a grand tradition for the holidays!

More holiday fun!

If you thought every holiday event in the SCV happened last weekend, I don’t blame you! However, there is still more holiday fun to be had in the SCV! Families can participate in two festive events, including taking a journey down Main Street on the holiday Hometown Trolley while listening to the story of the Polar Express with hot chocolate served after the event AND can join Santa and Mrs. Claus for a buffet breakfast.

Polar Express Trolley rides will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10. The Polar Express Trolley rides will depart and end at the Old Town Newhall Library located at 24500 Main Street.

Breakfast with Santa will be held 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec.14 at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Activities Center located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.

G. Marshall Hann and Cheri Fleming at the Home Tour League Preview Gala at TPC.The breakfast event will include the opportunity to participate in a variety of crafts, including cookie decorating at Mrs. Claus’ Cookie Kitchen and listening to holiday stories. After breakfast, guests will watch as Santa and Mrs. Claus leave the event in their motorized turbo sleigh.

Go Hart!

The varsity boys football team from William S. Hart High School in Newhall will play Chaminade in a CIF State Regional Football Championship Bowl (CIF South Division II) game at College of the Canyons on Saturday night. Hart could become only the second team from the Foothill League to win a CIF state bowl game. Canyon High won the first state title for the SCV in 2006. The winner of the game between Hart and Chaminade will play the winner of the North Division II bowl game between Manteca and Enterprise of Redding. Kudos to the Hart team and coaches for a spectacular season!
