EverythingSCV.com by Michele E. Buttelman for November 17, 2013

Welcome to Everything SCV for November 17, 2013

It’s been a strange weather week! Too, too hot for November early in the week and back to “seasonal” weather in time for opening of Festival of Trees. It just wouldn’t have been right to have 90 degree temps when heading out to view Christmas trees!

Holiday bake sale and boutique

Don’t miss the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Teabags Bake Sale and Boutique 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 at OLPH, 23233 Lyons Ave., Newhall. Unique, homemade jams, baked goods, casseroles, knitted and crocheted items and homemade crafts. Proceeds go to help the less fortunate in the Santa Clarita Valley. Please support these wonderful ladies! You only have a few hours left!

Festival of Trees

Festival of Trees is a beautiful and magical place to celebrate the start of the holidays! The trees are breathtaking and the gingerbread houses are models of clever creativity! The event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. Today noon to 6 p.m. you can get photos with Santa. $5 or take your own photo for a suggested donation of $3. Festival of Trees is at The Patios at Westfield Valencia Town Center between Sears and Wokano.

Friday, Nov. 22, 6 p.m. – Holiday Hocus Pocus an Evening of Magic – Part 2.

Saturday, Nov. 23, 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. – Magic of the Lights Gala and Tree Auction.

Sunday, Nov. 18, 5 to 7 p.m. – Silent auction bid board closing.

Tickets to the Festival are $6 for ages 15 and older; $3 ages 4 to 14 and $4 senior 65+. Children 3 and under are free.

A $1 off coupon is available on the Festival of Trees page of the Boys & Girls Club website at http://www.scvbgc.org/images/stories/festivaloftrees/fotwebcoupon13.pdf

The Closet on Main

I visited The Closet on Main a few days ago. I was impressed with the large number of beautiful dresses perfect for holiday parties! If you need something new to wear for the holidays visit The Closet on Main, 24335 Main St., Newhall. The store offers gently used clothes (some never worn!) for a fraction of the cost of new. I own several outfits from The Closet on Main. It feels great to recycle! The store benefits Single Mothers Outreach which offers support and a “hand up” for single parents in the SCV. For more information call The Closet on Main 661-288-0100.

Are you the BEST and BRIGHTEST?

The inaugural KHTS Hometown Station Holiday Light Tour will tour the Santa Clarita Valley on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 7 in search of the SCV’s BEST and BRIGHTEST holiday lights. I will lead the tour and serve as the Head Light Tour Judge. (I have 14 years judging holiday lights in the SCV). Other judges will include representatives of KHTS and area dignitaries. I can’t wait to check out all the beautiful lights! For more information visit www.homestownstation.com.
