Ewart Family Tragedy: Sunday Update

Here’s the latest update on the condition of members of the Ewart Family. Their Valencia home went up in flames early Tuesday morning.

David and Michael Ewart – Their situation remains the same.  They are
still heavily medicated and on the ventilator.  The surgeries are still
scheduled for Monday for both of them.

*  Hugh Ewart – He is off the ventilator.  This morning he was able to take
soft foods (custards…).  He still may need another surgery before being
released.

*  The Grossman Burn Center Hotline has been set-up for information
pertaining to the Ewarts.  This will ease the inundation of phone calls to
David’s’ brother.   The phone number is:  1-818-907-2887.  This information
is current as of 12/22/05.

*  Cards and letters may be sent to the Grossman Burn Center at 4929 Van
Nuys Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91316.  Please do not send flowers or plants.
Visitation is limited to immediate family only.  Cards may also be sent to
Imagination Station, attention:  David Ewart, PO Box 220983, Newhall, CA
91321.

*  The idea of gift cards, rather than gifts is a great one.  Anyone who
knows David knows that any extra stuff would go to a charity.  Grocery and
Mall certificates are great ideas.  Food will always be needed and mall
certificates are for any store at the mall.

There are now 4 blood drives schedule, so please make one!  They are:

12/27 at the Valencia Hills Clubhouse – Call Linda Skvarna 254-4500

12/29 at the Grossman Burn Center

1/7/06 – Newhall Church of the Nazarene – Call 259-5272

1/14/05 – Newhall Church of the Nazarene.  Additionally, there will be a
Bone Marrow Registry drive for 11 year-old Ryan Baker, a member of David’s
church, who is suffering from leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow
transplant.  There will be events for the kids as well as a fundraiser for
the Bakers.  Call 259-5272.  If you have already donated blood but want to
be a part of the bone marrow registry, please know that this is a simple
test and you will not be "giving blood".  The test can be as simple as a
finger prick.

*  Beginning on Monday 12/26/05 there will be 2 poster boards up at the
Valencia Hills clubhouse for all to sign.  When you come for the Blood
Drive, please stop by & sign your name & good wishes.  We will send the big
poster-sized cards to David & Michael at the end of the week.

*  Questions about pictures or the Old Orchard 2 Scrapbooking day?  You can
email Linda Cavataio at lindacavataio@sbcglobal.net.

*  If you have not received a response to an email you sent, please be
patient.  I am receiving a couple of hundred emails a day and I’m doing my
best to keep up, but with the holidays it has been difficult to respond as
quickly as I’d like.  We are trying to organize all the emails into
categories so that when the time comes, we will have a resource list of all
the "re-builders", "furniture donators", "health care providers",
"fund-raisers" etc.  Please continue sending emails so we can properly build
our resources.  If you have a special "talent" or area of expertise and
would like to contribute your time and/or service to this cause, please drop
me a note & let me know what it is.

***HELP WANTED***

*  Is there a webmaster out there who would be willing to donate his/her
time to come to my home and create a website that we can use to increase
awareness not only locally, but in the state of Arizona (and beyond), where
David and Jacqui met (they both attended University of Arizona)?

*  Does anyone have access to a storage facility that we could use to store
big-ticket items that are being offered for donation (i.e. furniture,
mattresses, computers, etc.)?

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support for the Ewarts.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah or Happy Kwanza, and hope
that your holidays will be filled with warmth, good health and appreciation
for all the good things in your life.
