GVHS Drum Line Competition
Precision and musical ability are what it’s all about at the Drum Line Competition hosted by Golden Valley High.  This stirring event will be held Saturday from 9:30am to 6:00pm.  All are welcome.  Tickets are $10.  Food and drinks will be available for purchase.  Funds raised benefit the Golden Valley High School music department and marching band/color guard.  For more information call 886-2453.  Golden Valley High is located on Robert C. Lee Parkway off of Golden Valley Parkway.

Ice Station – Hockey Clinic
It is “Hockey Weekend Across America” and the SCV can be a part of it at the Ice Station Valencia.  Hockey players of all ages are welcome to attend a free learn to play hockey clinic.  Equipment will be provided.  All you have to do is show up from 11am to noon.  The Ice Station is one of over 200 arenas across the country that will be taking part in this USA Hockey program.  Ice Station Valencia is located at 27745 North Smyth Drive, near Valencia High School.  Their phone number is 775-8686.  Click here for a complete story.

Kenneally Acupuncture – Past Life Regression

Canyon Theatre Guild – Willy Wonka
Local theater at it’s best is what Canyon Theatre Guild is offering with the hit show Willy Wonka.  Willy Wonka is based on the book Charlie And The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl that was also made into a movie.  Songs from the original movie are featured along with several new ones.  Gadgets and special effects have been developed for the play that will surprise all ages.  This fanciful musical adventure will please the entire family.  Saturday’s performances are at 2pm and 8pm.  Sunday’s matinee is at 2pm.  Canyon Theatre Guild is located at 24242 Main Street in Old Town Newhall.  For more information call 799-2702. 

Northern Trust Open – Military Appreciation
If you are a Veteran, on active or reserve duty, or a dependent interested in golf, the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club has a special no charge offer for you.  The Northern Trust Open will be continuing their tradition of excellence by providing exciting PGA Tour professional golf.  The open field of players has been finalized with Steve Stricker, Phil Michelson and Fred Couples headlining.  This year the event has an extensive list of military appreciation events.  You must have identification.  On Saturday there will be no charge for anything:  parking, admission, food and entertainment are complimentary.  Patriots’ Outpost Hospitality tent will have complimentary food and beverages, climate-controlled interior, private restroom facilities, in-venue real-time scoring and flatscreen televisions.  Visit the website for a full array of events.  Supervisor Michael Antonovich has arranged for a bus to transport SCV residents to the Riviera Country Club.  The bus will depart College of the Canyons at 9am and return at 5pm.  COC has offered lot 8, next to the football field, for free parking for the day.  To reserve bus seats, send an email to: 

Multiple Sclerosis – Texas Hold ‘Em
If Texas Hold ‘Em is your game, you can play in a tournament and be of help to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Your $50 donation to play Poker For A Cure will allow you to play for fantastic prizes.  The tournament will be held at the Mint Canyon Moose Lodge located at 18000 Sierra Highway, ½ mile north of Soledad Canyon.  The doors open at 5pm Saturday with the tournament starting at 6pm.  Prizes include:  racing package to L.A.
