Rituals Launch Party w/ Nick Arrojo
Rituals Colour Salon is holding a Launch Party to announce and to celebrate their partnership with Nick Arrojo, celebrity stylist and TV personality best known from TLC’s “What Not To Wear”.  The party will be like no other.  DJ Fox will supply the atmosphere, Me Catering by Mary Lynne will be filling up guests with her delicious appetizers, Mixers will be providing signature cocktails and Cake Goodness will satisfy your sweet tooth. Kenneally Seasonal Event

Canyon Country Optimist Bowl-A-Thon
Canyon Country Optimist has a way for us to make a difference with their Make A Strike For Kids Bowl-A-Thon.  The Bowl-A-Thon will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita and further their mission of “bringing out the best in kids”.  This is a family friendly event.  Sponsor a team or bowler.  Free pizza and soda will be available for bowlers and sponsors.  The Bowl-A-Thon will be held on Saturday at Santa Clarita Lanes on Soledad Canyon Road.  Registration starts at 5:15pm and bowling begins at 6pm.  Email bowl@canyoncountryoptimist.org or call Hugh McDonald at 661-803-8786.

Cat Days of Summer
The Cat Days of Summers are here, and you too can be part of a one-day Adopt-A-Thon.  Found Animals Foundation is hosting this event that is simultaneously happening in 16 Los Angeles County animal care centers, including our own Castaic Department of Animal Care & Control (DACC).  The event allows you to adopt a kitten, cat, puppy, dogs or other companion pets at significantly reduced fees.  Their will also be a “2 For You” feline promotion where fees for adopting two cats together will be the price of one.  Found Animals Foundation is dedicated to animal welfare issues and led by business and medical professionals.  Cat Days of Summer takes place on Saturday from 10am-5pm.  The Castaic DACC is located at 3100 Charlie Canyon Road in Castaic.

Jazz & Blues Concert
The sounds of Jazz & Blues are back in the SCV with the popular Jazz & Blues Concert Series 2011, this week highlighting the Lori Andrews Jazz Harp Quartet.  Lori Andrews is a gifted performer who blends the harp into a fusion of jazz and R & B.  She has performed for Presidents Clinton and Ford and the King and Queen of Spain.  She has entertained a list of celebrities including Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Oprah.  This is the 13th year for the series and it will run through August 26. This even is family friendly.  A variety of food and beverages, including wine and beer for adults, will be available.  No pets or outside food or beverages are allowed.  Admission is free. The concerts are held at Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway on Fridays from 7-9:30pm.  Call 661-290-2911.

Canyon Theatre Guild – Footloose
Canyon Theatre says, “Sometimes you’ve just gotta dance”.  So, come to see Footloose.  This exhilarating musical will have you rockin’.  Footloose tells the story of newcomers to a small farming town.  They encounter new rules, including a ban on dancing.  Friday and Saturday evening performances start at 8pm on:  6/17, 6/18, 6/24 and 6/25.  Saturday and Sunday matinee performances start at 2pm on:  6/18, 6/19, 6/25.  Canyon Theatre Guild is in the heart of Old Town Newhall at 24242 Main Street.  Call 799-2702 for reservations.

What:  Feline Twilight Tour
When:  Saturday, doors open at 5:30pm
Where:  Feline Conservation Center in Rosamond – click here for directions 
Details:  Ever wonder what wild cats do at night?  The Feline Conservation Center’s Twilight Tour can answer all your wild cat questions.  You’ll have a chance to see one of the world’s largest collections of rare wild feline species during their most active period.  The Feline Conservation Center houses many wild cats, like leopards, tigers, jaguars, cougars and bobcats.  Must be 18 years or older.  Doors open at 5:30pm.  Admission is $15.  The evening will have a barbeque, bake sale and raffle.  Visit:  WildCatZoo.org           

What:  Early Morning Bird Hike
When:  Saturday, 8am – 10am
Where:  Towsley Canyon, Ed Davis Park at 24255 The Old Road
Details:  Beginners are welcome for this easy hike.  Learn how our local birds handle the heat of summer.  This program is free.  Meet at the front parking lot.  Parking inside the park is $7.  Binoculars are optional.

What:  City of Santa Clarita Excursion to Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl
When:  Saturday, July 2 – sign-up deadline is Friday, June 24 at 5pm
Where:  Hollywood Bowl
Details:  The City is taking sign-ups for an excursion to the Fireworks Spectacular at the
Hollywood Bowl.  Their deadline is Friday, June 24 at 5pm.  Sign-up now for the 235th birthday celebration of our Nation.  This year will feature a performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra who will be joined by pop duo Daryl Hall & John Oates.  There will be a one-of-a-kind fireworks display.  The bus will depart from the SC Activities Center at 5pm and return at approximately midnight.  The cost is $57 per person for residents, $72 for non-residents and $62 for non-resident seniors (55+).  For more information contact Recreation Coordinator Jennifer Lindstrom at 661-284-1465.  Sign-up at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway or click here for on-line sign-up (select “Trips, Tours & Excursions”).
