Old Town Newhall Car Show
When: Sunday, June 26, 11am-3pm
Where: Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details: Cruise to Old Town Newhall for the 2nd Annual Car Show organized by theOld Town Newhall Association.  Check out four blocks of antique cars, street rods, classics and more.  There will be food trucks, music, exhibits, crafts and raffles.  This is a family friendly event.  Admission is free.  Visit:  OldTownNewhallAssociation.org

Jazz & Blues Concert
When: Fridays from 7-9:30pm through August 26
Where: Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway

Local Theatre:
ESCAPE-“Annie”
When: Friday, June 24 at 7pm; Saturday June 25 and Sunday, June 26 at 2pm and 7pm
Where: Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at COC
Details: ESCAPE Children’s Theatre always offers fun family entertainment.  This weekend’s production of “Annie” continues that tradition.  Over 235 youth and teens perform during the run of the show.  Adult tickets are $22.  Student/Child/Senior tickets are $18.  Call 661-299-5264 for reservations and tickets.  Visit:  EscapeTheatre.org
CTG-“Footloose”
When: Final performance weekend:  Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 evening performances at 9pm; Saturday, June 25 matinee performance at 2pm
Where: Canyon Theatre Guild in the heart of Old Town Newhall, 24242 Main Street
Details: Canyon Theatre says, “Sometimes you’ve just gotta dance”.  So, come to see Footloose. Wildlife Learning Center Fundraiser
When: Saturday, June 25 from 4:30-7:30pm
Where: Wildlife Learning Center, 16027 Yarnell Street, Sylmar 91342
Details: This family friendly event will be a memorable experience.  Admission includes:  meeting and taking pictures with rescued wildlife, watching a trainer in action, reptile experiences, free food and beverages, and silent auction and raffle with great prizes.  Celebrity guest, Tom Kenny will be in attendance.  Kenny is the voice of Sponge Bob.  For an additional fee:  meet a two-toe sloth, hold an owl, touch a Fennec fox, feed and touch huge tortoise, feed a porcupine plus a special surprise animal.  All proceeds go towards the care of the Wildlife Learning Center animals.  Wildlife Learning Center came to KHTS – click here for pictures and story by KHTS’ Cassie Klapp.    Tickets are $25 for Adult, $40 for Premium Adult, $20 for children, and $35 for Premium children.  Call 818-362-8711 for tickets.

Dr. Polucki – Natural Solutions Event
When: Saturday, June 25 from 11am-1pm
Where: Whole Foods Market, Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway in Valencia

Gentle Barn Golf Tournament
When: Friday, June 24 from 12pm – 8pm
Where: Robinson Ranch the Valley Course
Details: By joining this great day of golf, you’ll be supporting rescued animals and inner-city, at-risk and special needs children in Santa Clarita, L.A. and the Antelope Valley.  There will be a shot-gun start at noon.  You can win a car in the Hold-in-One contest.  You will get a golf shirt, lunch and dinner.  There will be raffles and a live auction.  Grab your camera and take your picture with Gentle Barn’s celebrity cows, Holy and Madonna, that were adopted by Ellen and Portia DeGeneres. Author Lisa DeLong Book Signing
When: Saturday, June 25 at 2pm
Where: Cobblestone Cottage, 24335 Magic Mountain Parkway in the River Oaks Shopping Center
Details:  Meet local author Lisa DeLong.  Lisa is a registered nurse and certified bereavement facilitator.  Justin DeLong, Lisa’s first son, died of leukemia in 2000 at the age of fifteen.  Her youngest son, Jacob, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006.  Lisa has shared her journey and insights in “Blood Brothers:  A Memoir of Faith and Loss While Raising Two Sons with Cancer,” a book to be released July 5 on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and Target.  All proceeds benefit the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer.

Amateur Radio Field Day
When: 24 hours from Saturday, June 25 at 11am through to Sunday, June 26 at 11am
Where: CLWA just above Central Park on Bouquet, 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road
Details: Amateur “Ham” Radio operators are taking part in an emergency preparedness event called “Field Day”.  The event tests the skills of operators in setting up and operating communication equipment in situations where there is limited or unavailable electrical power.  It simulates conditions during a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or other emergency.  Operators will be a crucial element in emergency response and with relief organizations.  Grab the kids and share this free experience.  The operators should be finished with set-up and ready to greet the public by 9:00am Saturday morning.  Learn how to get your own FCC radio license.  There are 685,000 Amateur Radio licensees in the United States and 2.5 million around the world.  Click here to read a story about Field Day written by KHTS’ Dale Fairclough.  Click here to learn more about ARRL-American Radio Relay League sponsors of Field Day.

When: Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26 from 8am-3pm each day
Where: College of the Canyons, parking lot 8 near the football stadium
Details: On the fourth weekend of every month, the Santa Clarita Street Fair brings fun for the entire family.  There will be booths filled with arts, crafts, handmade items and much more.  Lunch vendors arrive between 11am-2pm each day.  Admission and parking is free.  A portion of proceeds benefit the SCV Emergency Winter Shelter.  Visit:  SantaClaritaStreetFair.com

What: SCV Historical Society–“The Great Desert Railroad Race” Movie Screening
When: Saturday, June 25, 2pm
Where: SCV Historical Society at Heritage Junction in William S. Hart Park, 24101 Newhall Avenue in Old Town Newhall
Details: Documentary film producer Ted Faye will tell the story of The Great Desert Railroad Race in a talk and screening of his movie.  The afternoon will tell the story of the exciting time in Death Valley’s history when it was bustling with mining excitement.  Gold was discovered which brought promoters, mining men and the railroads.  The “double-crossing and dirty dealings” led to a race for riches.  Admission is free.  Visit:  SCVHS.org

What: Santa Clarita Great American Campout
When: starts Saturday, June 25 at 11am and ends Sunday, June 26 at 11am
Where: Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road
Details: Take part in the Second Annual Great American Campout.  Pitch your tent and enjoy a summer night under the stars.  The event includes games, crafts, t-shirts, a campfire program and much more.  You can even steal away and join the Amateur Radio Field Day – see entry above.  The cost is $20.  Click here for itinerary and further information.

When: Saturdays and Sundays through September 4
Where: Various locations across the SCV including:  Santa Clarita Park, Santa Clarita Metrolink, Cinema Drive Park ‘N Ride, McBean Regional Transit Center, Canyon Country park, Soledad Canyon Road & Solamint Drive, Soledad Canyon Road & Shangri-La Drive and Via Princessa Metrolink
Details: The City of Santa Clarita provides transportation for Santa Clarita to Santa Monica beach.  Buses depart from Santa Clarita beginning at 8:30am and arrive in Santa Monica around 10:30am.  Buses depart Santa Monica at 3:30pm for the return trip to Santa Clarita.  Fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for persons with disabilities and seniors 60 years and over.  For more information call 661-294-1BUS (1287).

What: City of Santa Clarita Excursion to Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl
When: Saturday, July 2 – sign-up deadline is Friday, June 24 at 5pm
Where: Hollywood Bowl
Details: The City is taking sign-ups for an excursion to the Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl.  The deadline is Friday, June 24 at 5pm.  Sign-up now for the 235th birthday celebration of our Nation.  This year will feature a performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra which will be joined by pop duo Daryl Hall & John Oates.  There will be a one-of-a-kind fireworks display.  The bus will depart from the SC Activities Center at 5pm and return at approximately midnight.  The cost is $57 per person for residents, $72 for non-residents and $62 for non-resident seniors (55+).  For more information contact Recreation Coordinator Jennifer Lindstrom at 661-284-1465.  Sign-up at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway or click here for on-line sign-up (select “Trips, Tours & Excursions”).

What: 29th Independence Day Classic Kids K, 5K Race/Walk, 10K Race & 15K Challenge
When: Monday, July 4 from 7-10am
Where: Newhall Park, 24933 Newhall Avenue
Details: With 28 previous years behind this event, this year’s race/walk will surely be successful.  Event planner/sponsor, Santa Clarita Runners, has built rewards and fun into the event while keeping the spirit of Independence Day.  There is a race for every level of experience and age.  Pre-registration and packet pick-up will be on Sunday, July 3 from 11am-3pm at Dick’s Sporting Goods located at 26591 Carl Boyer Drive.  Proceeds benefit the Santa Clarita Valley High School Athletics.  Click here for more information and on-line registration.
