Relay For Life
The grand event of the weekend is the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life which celebrates the lives of people who have battled cancer.  It’s also an opportunity to remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.  Anyone can participate in this 24 hour event.  The relay will be held at Central Park from 9:00am Saturday to 9:00am Sunday.  Come walk or cheer on walkers.  And don’t miss out on the Luminaria display to remind us of those we honor and remember.

High Heel-A-Thon
Help Soroptimists Stomp Out Violence with their High Heel-A-Thon.  In addition to heels, flip-flops, tennis shoes and even paws are welcome.  Register at 9am on Sunday and walk Old Town Newhall.  Walk down Main Street finishing on Walnut Street for shopping, eating, raffles, and demonstrations.  Partially benefits Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita.

Workshop On Creating A Resume
Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley is presenting a free workshop on “Completing a Job Application and Creating a Resume” on Saturday at the Valencia Library from 9am to 1pm.  Learn an easy approach to completing job applications, create a job application ‘template’, develop or update a resume, and learn to make resumes specific for each job.

Comedy Club Celebrity Golf
To round out your weekend fun, consider having the most fun you’ll ever have on a golf course.  Monday at Robinson Ranch each golf foursome will play with a nationally known comedian in the Comedy Club Celebrity Golf Classic.  Afterwards there will be a gala dinner and a comedy show.  This event benefits the Santa Clarita Homeless Shelter.  The plight of the homeless continues to be a challenge here in Santa Clarita.  The number of men, women, and children needing the services of the Homeless Shelter continues to grow. The Shelter provides three services:  a safe and warm place to spend the night, three meals each day, and transitional support to assist each individual improve his or her situation.

About:  22nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony is designed to bring the community together to celebrate, honor and remember America’s heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty.  Condor Squadron aircraft will be flying overhead.
