Tributefest
Eleven hours of concert featuring tributes to ten legendary bands – that’s the excitement of Tributefest.  The Beatles, Elton John, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Journey, Dave Mathews Band, The Who, U2 and the Police are covered right here in Santa Clarita.  Expect to see L.A.’s best food trucks and dozens of beers on tap.   The Second Annual Tributefest will be held Saturday from 11am-10pm at Central Park located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.  Click here for information on parking, approved items that can be brought into the venue, line up list and times, etc. 

KHTS is selling General Admission Tickets for half-price – ticket value is $40, your cost is $20.  Tickets can be purchased three ways: 

1)  At our studios, located at 27225 Camp Plenty, at the corner of Soledad Canyon and Camp Plenty (upstairs in the two-story on the corner).  We are open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5pm.

2)  On-line by clicking here.  Tickets must be picked up at our studios on Camp Plenty they cannot be mailed. 

3)  Saturday at our Kiosk at the mall from 10am-2pm.

Sequoia Charter School – Rummage Sale
Sequoia Charter School has a huge rummage sale going on this weekend with great finds, food, bargains and live classic rock.  Grab your wallet and your dancing shoes and come to the Rummage Sale at Sequoia Charter School located at 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway, near William S. Hart Union High  School District offices.  Saturday’s Rummage Sale runs from 8am-1pm.

NorthPark Church – Mother’s Day
Celebrate Mother’s Day by honoring Mothers in a very special way at NorthPark Community Church.  Bring the special woman in your life: mother, grandmother, aunt or a close mother-figure.  She will feel the love of the day.  NorthPark will honor all the love, nurture and warmth mothers bring to our lives.  NorthPark Community Church’s special Mother’s Day Sunday services will be held at 8am, 9am, 10:30am and noon.  NorthPark Community Church is located at 28310 Kelly Johnson Parkway, off of Copperhill and Newhall Ranch Road.

Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner
The Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner 2011 will announce the outstanding man and woman volunteer of the SCV.  The candidates have been nominated by local non-profit organizations.  The nominees have been recognized for their long history of community commitment through exceptional volunteer service.  The Awards Dinner will be held Friday starting at 6pm at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, located at 24500Town Center Drive, at McBean Parkway. HMNMH Health Fair
Receive the resources and education to help you take a more active role in managing your health at the “Care For Your Heart” Health Fair.  Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital (HMNMH) wants to help SCV residents stay in good health.  The Health Fair is open to the community and admission and screenings are free.  At the fair, attendees will receive a heart healthy passport to record screening results.  This passport can be used at subsequent fairs to compare results and record improvements.  Fairs are held quarterly.  The fair will have screenings on blood pressure, height and weight, body fat, glucose, cholesterol and more.  The fair will be held Friday from 7:30-10am at the Santa Clarita Community Center located at 22421 Market Street in Newhall.  Call 661-253-8408 for more information.

Riley Weinstein – “Getting The Word Out”
Riley Weinstein is again leading the way for special needs children in the Third Annual “Getting the Word Out” event.  The event celebrates music, vocals, acting and dance.  Special guest Zina Bethune will speak on behalf of special needs children.  “Getting the Word Out” will be held Saturday starting at 7pm at Canyon Theatre Guild located at 24242 Main Street in Old Town Newhall.  Tickets are $10.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 661-222-7910.  Click here to read a full story on the event and Riley Weinstein written by KHTS’ Juliana Manchaca.

What:  Real Life Church – Guardians of the Ribbon/Pink Heals Tour-Fighting Cancer

Details: 
The Guardians of the Ribbon advance the cause of fighting cancer.  They are bringing The Pink Heals Tour to Santa Clarita.  The Pink Heals Tour are firefighters from Arizona who spend their vacations touring the country in pink firetrucks and pink turnout gear to support women with all types of cancer.  The firefighters fund their tours solely by selling T-shirts.  So consider purchasing a shirt for yourself and others at the event.  Local cancer support groups will be in attendance.  The California Pizza Kitchen and Daphne’s Greek Restaurant will also be supporting the event.  Visit:  PinkFireTrucks.org

What:  California Strawberry Festival

What:  3rd Annual Jewish Food & Cultural Festival

Share in Jewish culture at this fun event featuring food, live Jewish entertainment, shopping, arts and crafts, children’s area, food trucks and more.  Festival guests can donate blood, participate in bone marrow screening, help the homeless, send cards to soldiers, donate hair to Locks of Love and participate in activities for the American Cancer Society.  Don’t miss out on the attempt to se the new Guinness World Record for the World’s largest Falafel Ball.  Children 12 and under are free, Adults $5, two for one admission with non-perishable donation to SCV Food Pantry.
