CalArts – Wild Beast Series
A free outdoor music event is offered in CalArts’ Wild Beast Concert Series.  Last May CalArts dedicated its new indoor/outdoor music venue, The Wild Beast and The S. Mark Taper Foundation Courtyard.  Sunday’s 4pm offering will bring us the spirit of ancient Greek theater during Iannis Xenakis’s rarely staged opera, Orestia.  CalArts students, faculty and alumni will perform.  A 13-piece ensemble of wind instruments, brass and amplified solo cello will be joined by CalArts faculty baritone soloist Paul Berkolds and conductor by Mark Menzies.

Pilates Teck – Happy Spine
Pilates Teck wants everyone to have Happy Spines.  Join their Happy Spine Workshop on Saturday from Noon to 3pm at Pilates Teck on Lyons near Walnut in Newhall.  Don’t rely on others to fix your spine.  Franklin Method practitioner Gini Martinez will teach the workshop.  Call 260-1609 for reservations and further information.  Click her for information on Pilates Teck.

Rancho Camulos – Ramona Days
Rancho Camulos, where history, myth and romance of Old California still linger, is holding Ramona Days, a unique event not to be missed.  You’ll experience “all things Ramona” at this setting of American novelist Helen Hunt Jackson’s book, Ramona.  The book was written in 1884 and tells the story of California’s colonial past through the central character, Ramona, an orphan girl who is part-Scottish and part-Native American.  Ramona Days at Rancho Camulos offers you a return to old California with play scenes, music and dance.  There will be food, shopping, kid activities and fun for the entire family.  The Rancho’s living history presentations and exhibits will bring to life old Ramona days this Saturday from 10am-4pm.  Rancho Camulos is close by on Highway 126.   Click here for a story on Ramona Days.

TLC – Holiday Boutique
Happy Holiday Boutique shopping can be found this weekend.  The Transitional Learning Charter is holding “Holiday Heap Craft Boutique” on Saturday from 9am-4pm at Golden Oak Adult School.  So, if you’re looking for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa gifts, or just need to treat yourself, this may be the event for you.  You’ll find jewelry, quilts, pillows, snowmen, angels, pinecone baskets and more.  Saturday’s Boutique will be held at Golden Oak Adult School, 23201 Dalby near Newhall Avenue.  For directions, click here. Hart Unified High School District for students between the ages of 18-22 with Autism, Aspergers’ and other developmental disabilities.  The purpose of this fund-raiser is to start a business that employs students so who acquires job skills that lead to independence as economic contributors to the community and to build their self esteem.

SCV Rose Society – Wild West Roses
Wild West Roses are in bloom at the SCV Rose Society Rose Show.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Rose growers throughout Southern California will exhibit miniature roses, hybrid teas and floribundas.  The show takes place Saturday from 12:30pm-5pm at William S.
