SCV Youth Project-Poker Tournament
It’s time to go “all in” for the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project’s Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament. A silent auction, delicious food, cigars, wine and raffle prizes round out the evening to benefit the SCV Youth Project. Winners will play for gift certificates, trips, airline tickets and more. Auction items include: movie baskets, sporting events, aerial scenic tour, autographed memorabilia, VIP tickets to ‘Jimmy Kimmel LIVE’ and much more. Prices are $125 for individual buy-in for tournament and event and $40 for spectator viewing and silent auction. Check-in, silent auction, food and beverages begin at 5pm with the tournament beginning at 6pm. SCV Youth Project’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where teens and families are strengthened, empowered and equipped with the tools they need to live successful and fulfilling lives. SCV Youth Project is currently running programs on six high school and seven junior high school campuses in the William S. Hart School District. Last year the Project assisted more than 2,00 youth with serious life challenges, including depression, suicide, grief and loss, peer pressure and drug/alcohol abuse.

West Ranch Dance-Dance Clinic
West Ranch Dance is ready to Make A Difference. They will be hosting a dance clinic and food drive to benefit SCV Food Pantry during Make A Difference Day, America’s “National Day of Doing Good”. The clinic is for children from kindergarten through fifth grade. The cost is $12 plus 2 donation items. An optional souvenir t-shirt will be available for an additional $6. As part of the dance clinic, the dancers will learn an easy age appropriate dance routine that they are invited to perform with the West Ranch Dance Team on November 5th at 6:45pm, just before the varsity football game vs Saugus High. The cost includes three hours of activities, snack, beverage and two tickets (dancer and guest) to the football game. There will be two sessions: one from 8:30-11:30 and the second from 1-4pm. Emblem Club-Holiday Boutique
Get a jump on your holiday shopping. Visit the Emblem Club Holiday Boutique and Bake Sale. Over 50 vendors with merchandise for men, women, children and holiday decorating will bet there. Available items are varied: from jewelry to chocolates, health care products to quilts and hand-painted clothing. You will be able to find something for everyone on your list. In addition to holiday shopping, Lucinda Sue Crosby, goddaughter of Roy Rogers and award-winning journalist, songwriter, actress and former sports commentator, will be signing her novel, Francesca of Lost Nation. Popular artist and art instructor, Karen Mills, will demonstrate and provide lessons in Chinese watercolor painting on rice paper. La Tradicion Mexican Restaurant will cater the event. The event will be held Saturday from 10:30am-5:30pm at the Elks Club on Sierra Highway, 1.2 miles north of Soledad Canyon Road. Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships for students, holiday gift baskets for needy families and will benefit other charities.
Cal Arts-Free Concert
Are you ready for a mini Hollywood Bowl experience? The Wild Beast Concert Series at CalArts can fill the bill. The Wild Beast Music pavilion on the CalArts campus is Santa Clarita Valley’s newest concert venue. The series of free open air concerts launches this Saturday at 7:00pm. For an unforgettable evening of classical music, bring a picnic or just relax on the lawn with Strauss, Mozart and Gabrieli Under the Stars. This will be the first of four outdoor concerts in the series. The series spans classical, jazz, world music and the West Coast premier of Iannis Xenakis’ opera, Oresteia. West Ranch High Concert
West Ranch’s choral department is offering a show guaranteed to be a blast. This Thursday at 7pm you’ll be entertained with music from television and movies. The show will be held at West Ranch Theater. Admission is $7.
Light The Night With Hope
You’ll be filled with hope and inspiration at the Light the Night Walk. This event celebrates, remembers and supports those with Leukemia & Lymphoma. Gold balloons are carried in remembrance of those lost, white balloons are carried by survivors and red balloons by those in support. Saturday’s festival begins at 5pm with the Remembrance Ceremony beginning at 6pm and walk time at 7pm, all at Bridgeport Park. Become a Champion For Cures by registering to walk or donating to this heartwarming event. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) helps hundreds of thousands of Americans battling leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Pumpkin Festival
The Pumpkin Festival is back! Come to William S. Hart Park this Saturday for the third annual Pumpkin Festival. Family fun can be found with the pumpkin carving contest, Creatures of the Night with Placerita Nature Center, MUD Makeup Show, and Haunted Hayride through Heritage Junction among other activities. This year, the Hart Museum will host Scared Silly, a compilation of “spooky” animated favorites by Walt Disney and a silent film comedy, The Haunted House, with Buster Keaton. Festival hours are from 10am-3pm. Admission is free.
