Make A Difference Day

Lend a helping hand to your neighbors this Saturday at Santa Clarita’s Make A Difference Day.  Starting at 8:00 a.m., volunteers will meet at the Valencia Town Center for a free breakfast and t-shirt.  Once all the teams arrive, volunteers will be sent throughout the community to help various organizations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.  Don’t forget to sign up to help your community!

SCV Sheriffs Haunted Jailhouse
Pick out a halloween costume and head to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Haunted Jailhouse and Halloween Carnival this Sunday.  Starting at 11 a.m., guests will have the opportunity to take a jailhouse tour, play games, laugh at clowns, and enter in a costume contest.  Admission is $1.

Heritage Haunt
Celebrate fall at the Heritage Haunt this Saturday.  Kicking off with a Halloween Parade in Old Town Newhall at 10 a.m., guests are invited to make their way to Hart Park where they can watch shows, listen to music, antd take tours.  From 11 a.m to 3 p.m. both children and adults are invited to enter a pumpkin-carving contest.  Then, at 7 p.m. guests have the opportunity to wander through mazes, get spooked in the scare zone, and enjoy a haunted hay ride.  Proceeds benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society and the William S. Hart Union School District.

COC Star Party
Find Jupiter this Friday at 7 p.m. at the College of the Canyons Canyon Country Campus Star Party.  With the help of college faculty members, guests are invited explore the starry sky using the college’s telescopes.  At this free event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Jupiter and its moons.

Give-A-Palooza
Help raise money this Saturday to benefit Help The Children and the Santa Clarita Community Wide Holiday Toy Drive at Give-A-Palooza.  Starting at 7 p.m. at Le Mesa Jr. High, this costume-themed event includes a costume contest, barbeque dinner, silent auction, and live music.  Tickets are $25.

Run Against Hunger
Help combat hunger in the Santa Clarita Valley this Sunday by participating in the 16th Annual Run Against Hunger.  Held by the SCV Food Pantry, participants of all ages will gather at the starting line at the South Fork Trail in Newhall Park at 8 a.m.  Awards will be presented to winners in each of the nine age divisions.

Healthy Woman’s Day
Make sure you are in tip-top condition at the Santa Clarita Valley Healthy Woman’s Day this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Held at the Sierra Vista Boy’s and Girl’s Club in Canyon Country, women can receive free breast exams as well as cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, and heart risk assessment screenings.  Call ahead to schedule your appointment.
