Lombardi Ranch
Halloween and Lombardi ranch, a perfect match.  To close the October season, join the Monster Dash 5K and Kids K.  What other course has the fun of Lombardi’s?  You’ll climb up Dead Man’s Hill, run down the pumpkin patch and through the multiple corn mazes and Scarecrow Alley.  Costumes are highly encouraged!  Race proceeds benefit the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for children’s cancer.  For over 30 years, family-operated and owned Lombardi Ranch has provided family fun to the SCV.  Continue that tradition this weekend with live entertainment, bake sales, face painting, petting zoo, train rides, corn maze, wagon rides and choosing the perfect pumpkin.  And don’t forget to pick up extra pumpkins, gourds and corn for holiday decorating and farm fresh fruits and vegetables for good eating.  If you’re very lucky you’ll get to hear David Reeves Carpenter sing the Lombardi Ranch song one more time before autumn closes.

Burger King Saugus-‘Kinect for Xbox 360’
Don’t miss your chance to be one of the first to play Kinect for Xbox 360 where you are the controller.  The tour stops at Burger King Saugus at Bouquet Canyon and Newhall Ranch Road.  Get your chance at the game on Monday and Tuesday from 10:30am-7:30pm.  This is a limited time event.  Kinect brings games and entertainment to life in extraordinary new ways—no controller required. Easy to use and instantly fun, the Kinect sensor uses revolutionary full-body tracking to put you in the center of the fun. This new technology allows the sensor to recognize your body and mirror your movements in the game, making YOU the controller.  Click here for a video.

Seasonal Flu Vaccinations
Get your flu shot and help our national security preparedness.  That’s right, at College of the Canyons there will be a free of charge community flu-shot event on Friday from 10am-2pm (while supplies last) in the West Physical Ed building, off Rockwell Canyon.  Inoculations will be given in anticipation of an active flu season.  This event also tests the Cities Readiness Initiative response, in conjunction with L.A. County Department of Public Health and COC, during a bioterrorism attack and help prepare for our community’s response to a potential pandemic.  The Initiative’s purpose is to treat an impacted, mass population with medications within a short time period.  But, all that said, the flu-shot is free.  Click here for further information and directions.
