For an afternoon devoted to all things pets, head over to Newhall’s William S. Hart Park on Sunday, October 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 11th Annual Bow-Wows and Meows Pet Fair. The free event will feature an exciting lineup of entertainment, pet-related vendors, and adoptable dogs and cats from Los Angeles County shelters.
The festivities include food, music, demonstrations from the Ventura County Sheriff K-9 Search & Rescue at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and an educational seminar on “The Truth About Pit Bulls” at noon. The Famous Fun Dog Show with categories such as best vocalist, mystery mutt, and pet-owner look alike will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Other opportunities at the fair will include free rabies and micro-chipping clinics, low-cost vaccines, county pet license renewals, personalized ID tags and children’s bracelets, pet photographers, and a $8 day pass to the Kids Zone.
“Our mission is to celebrate pets, encourage animal awareness, and promote pet adoption. We’re happy that thousands of people agree and join us each year to participate,” said founder, Yvonne Allbee.
Pet adoptions at Bow-Wows & Meows are $30 and there will be more than 200 dogs and cats to choose from. All pets are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and current on vaccinations.
“Everyone at Bow-Wows & Meows believes adoption is the only option when it comes to adding a pet to your family,” Allbee said. “Not only is it cost-effective, adoption saves shelter animals and reduces the overpopulation problem created by breeders and pet stores, which usually purchase their puppies from puppy mills.”
Leashed pets are welcome to the fair. There is a $10 cost per category to enter in The Fun Dog Show.
William S. Hart Park is located at 24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall.
