Laurie Ender, a member of the inaugural Board of Directors for the Agency, was elected president.

Gary Choppe is the new vice president; Nancy Taylor will continue to serve as secretary; and Doug Lessard will continue to serve as treasurer for the 2-year-old agency.

Family Promise of SCV Network Director Chris Najarro was promoted to executive director.

“I want to thank the community, our volunteers, our congregation families and our board of directors and advisers for their dedication to Family Promise of the Santa Clarita Valley and the families we serve,” Ender said. “You can all be proud of our accomplishments over these past two years, and as a team, we look forward to our expanding role in the community to better serve homeless families.”

Currently supported by 23 local faith organizations, Family Promise of SCV was founded in 2011, and it’s part of a national organization to help homeless families.

Family Promise of SCV’s mission statement reads: “Through mobilizing community faith groups, Family Promise of the Santa Clarita Valley works to assist homeless families to achieve sustainable independence while offering hope and compassion and preserving individual dignity.”

Founding President Larry Comp stepped down, and will serve on the board focusing on corporate donations.

In addition to the newly elected officers, new teams/committees were formalized to work on important functions and areas of operation for Family Promise of SCV.
