Fast-Thinking Santa Clarita Mom Stops Kidnapping

Some Santa Clarita residents who asked not to be identified had a close call while touring Seattle’s Pike Place Market, when a man walked away holding the hand of their 5-year-old son.

The mother spotted the child about 40 feet away, walking with 65-year old Robert Steiner.

Steiner dropped the boy’s hand when he heard her shouting and fled the area. The boy went back to his mother, unharmed. Steiner was found shortly after the incident and taken into custody.

He is being held on suspicion of kidnapping with bail set at $250,000 bail by order of the Kings County Superior Court.
