A city bus rests on the center divider after the fatal crash

A Stevenson Ranch woman died Friday morning when the Toyota Camry she was driving was hit by a Santa Clarita Transit bus on The Old Road at Constitution Avenue.

The impact pushed the Camry at least 50 feet down The Old Road from the intersection. Debris from the collision littered the roadway and the chassis of the red and white city bus rested on the center divider.

Santa Clarita Transit driver David Delape, 49, of Rosamond was driving the bus, which had 25 passengers. Six people on the bus received minor injuries and two of them, including the driver, were transported to Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital for treatment.

California Highway Patrol spokesman John Lutz said that staff from nearby schools West Ranch High School and Rancho Pico Junior High came to the scene of the accident to transport 14 students from the city bus to their respective schools.

Coroner’s investigators arrived at approximately 9:50 a.m.
