A 41-year old Saugus
man died this morning when he lost control of his vehicle on the southbound 14
freeway.
According to CHP Officer John Lutz, Ruben Villalobos was
driving his 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee at an unknown speed near the San
Fernando Road/Newhall Avenue onramp when he lost
control and spun out.
His vehicle hit the right curb of the shoulder and went
down the embankment onto the onramp. Villalobos, who was not wearing a seat
belt, was ejected from his vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.
While the accident is still under investigation, Lutz said
black ice on the freeway may have been a factor.
