A Claremont man died Friday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle in Acton and was thrown from the bike.
David Stickles, 46, was driving his 2006 Suzuki 400 dirtbike northbound on Escondido Canyon Road approaching Hubbard Drive at an undetermined speed when he left the roadway to the east and traveled on the soft dirt shoulder.
Unable to maintain control of the motorcycle, Stickles was thrown from the motorcycle when it went into a ditch.
Although he was wearing safety equipment, including riding jacket, gloves and a helmet, Stickles died at the scene while paramedics were attempting to treat him for his injuries.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as a factor in the collision.
