Crafts/Gifts

Fill a mason jar with notes on what you love most about your dad. You can fill it with more notes or even candy treats throughout the year.

Cut up an old tie and turn it into a miniature tie for a keychain. Use glue and you can simply glue the tie pieces together and connect them to a clip or lanyard.

Rather than just using a simple lanyard, you can easily get a customized lanyard at 4inlanyards according to your color scheme. A keychain with a personal Father’s Day message on its lanyard would be a great Father’s Day present. Also, it’s a daily-in-use gift, it’s going to remind your father how much he means to you.

Getting your dad a souvenir of his favorite football team or his favorite TV show is probably one of the best ideas for a father’s day gift. You cloud make up a whole box filled with his favorite football teams stuff, including the team jersey- which is easily available in all sports stores, a notepad, a customized lanyard, etc. Moreover, you could print a customized logo on these lanyards and bands, as well.

Buy some of dad’s favorite candies then stack them together to create a small pyramid. Tie it all securely with a black bow. You can use a small dab of non-toxic glue on the wrappers to keep the candies together.

Make your dad’s favorite cookies and then stack them together in a mason jar or spaghetti canister. Tie on a bow and a note for a simple gift.

What To Do

Stop by the Pasadena Chalk Festival. Artists will be finishing up their chalk art and the works will be featured from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday. The festival is at 280 E. Colorado Blvd. The best part? It’s free.

Take your dad to see an early showing of “Man of Steel.” Then take your dad out for barbeque or go home and have your own.

Why not take a nice hike together or as a family? There are many hiking trails, such as the Golden Valley Trail and Piru Creek Trail. There is also a family nature walk in Topanga until 3 p.m. and is free for all ages.

Head up to Fillmore for the Father’s Day BBQ. There will be tri-tip, chicken and tons of other barbeque favorites as you wait to take a ride on a vintage train. The price ranges from $22 – $47 and a ride is scheduled at 3 p.m.
