Three arrests made in late night shift.
A risqué party at the Plaza Banquet facilities on Lyons Avenue got a little rough for deputies early Saturday morning.
Just before 1:00 a.m. a call came in to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station stating that there was a person with a gun at the Plaza. Local deputies responded to the scene, located the reported vehicle in the parking lot and removed the occupants.
After a search of the car, no weapon was found and the occupants were released.
However at that time, deputies on scene began to notice multiple fights occurring around them. According to Lieutenant Mark Hershey, deputies then proceeded to disband the fights, of which roughly two or three were occurring outside of the plaza and at least two more inside.
The Plaza had been rented out for a lingerie or pajama-type party, and alcohol was being served.
While not all of the disturbing parties were apprehended, three felony arrests were made.
The first was Miguel Munoz of Saugus, who was arrested on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury. Munoz allegedly struck a female during one of the fights, causing her to fall backwards and hit her head on the cement. She was transported to a hospital and is believed to be in stable condition.
The second arrest came for a similar assault case, where 19 year-old Neil Simmonds of Valencia allegedly threw a cement parking restriction device through the window of a car, injuring one occupant.
Additionally, 24 year-old Fredrik Illian of Saugus was arrested on felony vandalism charges, after he allegedly caused over $400 in damage to the Plaza’s bathroom.
All three suspects are being held at the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station.
Overall, a large law enforcement team was on scene at the incident from roughly 1:00 a.m. to about 3:00 a.m.
