If filmmaking is one of your interests, the SCV Film Festival has not one but two opportunities to offer this year.
First, the festival’s popular summer camp for junior filmmakers will be held in downtown Newhall from July 18 through August 5 and registration is filling up fast.
This year; the popular Script 2 Screen Filmmaking Camp will be combined with graphic design opportunities that allow your child to be the movie studio.

Students will create a short film using green screen, special effects, animation and more and then promote that film creating movie posters, a DVD cover and other promotional items.
The camp, which is for students between the ages of 9 and 16, will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a location in downtown Newhall. The cost is $465. For information or registration, call festival director Ramon Hamilton at 661-600-6320 or email rhamilton@scvfilmfestival.com.

And secondly – submissions for the Seventh Annual SCV Film Festival are now being accepted. Hamilton suggests that filmmakers submit now to qualify for a low “early bird” rate, which is available until July 15. Also this year, there are reduced rates for high school filmmakers.
